30 Days of Giveaways Continue- Day 5

THREAD CAROUSEL
Inventor: Virginia Lauer

If this giveaway does not make you
Twist and  Shout
nothing will!!

Inventor, Virginia Lauer (Kuala T. Inventive Sewing Solutions-Plus, Inc), was the very first IHAN Anniversary Giveaway contributor!!!  Thank you Virginia Lauer!!!

There are 48 1/2 " dowels and 24 smaller dowels that will hold up to 72 bobbins on the Large Cone Thread Carousel.  It is made from Red Oak and its base rotates (like a lazy Susan).  To see a visual demo of the Thread Carousel in motion....click here :).   That beautiful baby weighs just 8 pounds and stands 14 in. tall and  11 in. wide.  This is a heirloom that can be passed from generation to generation.

Below is a photo of mine.  I have the Easy Reach Thread Carousel. I love that I can see my threads and they are within easy reach of my sewing machine.  It keeps my bobbins nice and orderly and I just spin it around when I want to see what colors of thread I have to go with a project.

Virginia has also designed a  Notions Caddy that can be added to either Thread Carousels.  I think it is very handy.
Virginia is a wonderful and generous woman. She stands behind her product and has each one inspected before it is shipped. Virginia has great integrity and I admire her greatly as an Inventor and as a Woman.  She is TOPS in the IHAN book :)

Every sewing room needs a Thread Carousel, don't you think?  I do!!!  One lucky IHAN reader is going to win a Large Cone Thread Carousel.   Virginia will ship the Carousel to the winner of the drawing.

How can you win this beautiful beautiful Large Cone Thread Carousel?  You need to leave a comment and share how you currently store your thread and how having this beautiful Heirloom will compliment your sewing space.

For a bonus entry, e-mail a photo of your current thread storage situation and comment on how having the Thread Carousel will get you out of the mess you are in :) to IWantToWinAtIHAN@yahoo.com

For those of you who may be first time visitors to the IHAN blog, you may want to read more about the 30 Days of Giveaways and learn how to get more entries into the drawings. You can go to the IHAN website.  On the left side of the screen,  on the bottom,  there is a link that says "Happy First Anniversary" just click there :)  Winners will be drawn on April 16, 2010.

Smiles,
Kelly
Post Script:  I have gotten feedback that my blog is "very busy" and it makes finding where to leave comments and knowing what is being given away confusing.  If you have found that to be the case....please e-mail your suggestions to IWantToWinAtIHAN@yahoo.com and you will get extra entries into the Grand Prize Drawing.

  1. OH boy!! My spools of thread lay in the bottom of my sewing desk drawer - jumbled! And if the kids get into the drawer I can guarantee that the ends will be loose and when I pull out a spool along will come 1/2 dozen pieces of thread along with it. I'm really not that much of a slob, it's just that I don't have very much of an organization of my thread! This would be PERFECT!! And my bobbins would actually all be in one place instead of in my sewing machine, in the thread drawer and in my pattern drawer. Oh to dream..............

BTW - I think the big white box underneath the "Please comment here" and "Post a Comment" is sufficient for most readers. Just my 2cents worth!

  2. I keep all of mine in Art Bin totes, so it's nice and neat. I can easily move it, but it gets all jumbled up. I'd love to have this beautiful spindle to put my spools on.

  3. My thread would look awesome on this carousel! I can see it now all the spools and bobbins at my finger tips...spinning around, it gives me goose bumps just thinking about it:) Thanks for another great give away:) Jenna Louise

  4. Oh Kelly, this is PRETTY! Currently I have some spool racks on my wall but I have more thread than racks. And my cones are all just in a clear plastic tub. Classy, eh? No, not at all. But if I won this carousel, I would put all my cones on it and then they would look so pretty on my sewing table.

Happy Anniversary! And thank you for the chance to win.

  5. I am probably the most disorganized quilter around. The carousel would be wonderful!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I could so use this! I have my bobbins stored in a box in a drawer and my spools on a flat spool rack...under my sewing table! It would be great to have them together and handy on top of my sewing table!

  7. Beautiful thread spool. So nice I don't think I'd want to leave it in my sewing room. I can visualize a variety of colors, like flowers, and using it as a table decoration (when I don't have it in my sewing room).

PS - I like the layout of your site. Yes it has a lot, but so does a good candy store!

  8. what a wonderful tool, I have a rack hanging on the wall but it is full, then there is a tote and a box of threads sitting on the floor..

  9. Oh wow what a great way to store threads. I have a thread holder, but it only holds some of my thread. I will email you a picture :-)

    ReplyDelete
  10. Boy could I use this lovely crafted spool rack. All my racks are full and I like to have the thread where I can see it and not have to dig in a box or drawer. Hope I win.

    ReplyDelete
  11. i keep my thread on a shelf - bobbins always fall down! :-(

  12. My thread is stored in a messy handful of boxes... there are at least three boxes, and when I'm looking for thread sometimes it takes a while to look through them. There's also a spare drawer that gets some thread sometimes, so I have to look there too.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I have three regular racks. Not only do they not spin, they are loaded with straws to keep at least two or three spools on a single dowel. Of course I always need the spool in the bottom.

I have one of those foam things to keep bobbins, but this would be MUCH handier.

  14. Kelly, all my thread is stored in IKEA food storage boxes. Ideal? No, but it does let me take it to workdays.

  15. OMG I so need this! My thread is in drawers, plastic bags, a container, on my quilt table, on my serger, and generally every where! I could so be organized and get MORE quilting, piecing and sewing completed by being organized! I can't tell you how much time it takes me to find the thread I need--especially when I am chasing an unrolling spool across the floor! Thanks so much for the chance to become organized and quilt more efficiently!

    ReplyDelete
  16. My smaller spools are in a cheap plastic organizer, my large spools are in a old wooden box. The carousel looks like a wonderful idea, nice to see all those spools in front of you when you are working. I want one! Thanks for having such a wonderful give away! Sharonj.

  17. It takes a while to tell how I store my thread: some is in the little drawers of my sewing machine cabinet, some is in the little opening under my sewing machine, some is stacked next to my serger (and it rolls away every time I set up my serger) and some is in my antique sewing basket from my Grandmother. Then there are the wooden spools that I have displayed on a shelf over my sewing machine. Whew!

  18. I would love to have a large cone thread caddie. At present my threads are stored in match box plastic storage containers and I have just starting acquiring large cones of thread and I am keeping them in a large ziplock bag.
    Have a great weekend

  19. I keep my thread in a drawer, however, being that I love oak this would be a wonderful addition to my sewing sanctuary! The window sill in this room happens to be made of oak also! No more messy thread drawer for me if I win this!

  20. Aside from all the great reasons I would LOVE to win this thread caddy, (i.e., match my oak trim throughout the house; solve thread organization problem; compact storage idea; save time by having everything right at hand; ingenious product idea!; classy; and functional), is the following fact: I just simply adore the visual impact of color and texture. This is true with threads, and my stacks of fabric. Sometimes I buy a fat quarter pack just because I like the color array! Maybe an odd thing to do, but I've grown to appreciate that this expenditure satisfies my visual senses and gives me great creative sparks as well as a feeling of calm.

So in short, this great caddy would put all those colors of threads in front of me to add that visual appeal to my quilting room. Awesome!

  21. OMG Thank you Virginia!

I store my thread in one of those plastic drawer stacks. Unfortunately it isn't organized at all.

    ReplyDelete
  22. What a wonderful spool rack!!! It takes up much less space than the racks I presently have. I love your blog just the way it is.

    ReplyDelete
  23. This is an awesome way to store thread to have within handy reach! Right now mine is stored in a plastic thread holder that I have filled up, and I am having to stand thread in the spaces between. I need this!

    Happy Quilting!
    Cindy

  24. I hate to admit that I store my thread in an old, brown, broken, plastic basket!! That beautiful wooden thread carousel would allow me to show off my quilting studio!!!

  25. I keep my thread in tin metal containers or plastic containers from the Dollar store. The carousel is beautiful and would look great on the sewing table that my FIL made.

    ReplyDelete
  26. my thread is on something like this now, but it's much smaller and don't hold near as many. what an awesome giveaway

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have little plastic organizers with drawers in them. I keep my thread and my bobbins in the drawers.
Would be SO much handier to be able to see all the threads on this organizer and pick just the right color.

  28. I have my threads in a couple of plastic boxes that are not really convenient - mostly because it is easy to lay stuff on top of them. I love th idea of the bobbin dowels so I can put the matching bobbins near the thread.

    pick me!!! pick me!!!

  29. Happy Anniversary, parties are always fun as are giveaways.
My cottons live in a drawer in my sewing table and are a mess especially when miss Lily (21months old) granddaughter decides to play with grandmas cottons. This would be great no more searching through all the mess

    ReplyDelete
  30. This is such a great idea. My thread is currently in Art*Bin boxes and it is tough to see what I have.

    ReplyDelete
  31. My thread is scattered around in drawers and boxes with different projects! Thread that isn't assigned to a project is in my sewing box, which used to be my mother's from the '60s (I'm pretty sure some of that thread is her's from the '60s!). I am in desperate need of a way to keep it organized!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Let's see..I have over 300 spools of thread. I'd need way more than one..LOL.

I'm OCD about my thread. They are together by brand, Madiera, Hemmingworth, Aurifil, DMC, Superior Threads..etc. Then they are organized by each manufacturer's color chart for easy reference and to make sure I don't buy ones I already have.

I don't think it would hold my 10,000 meter spools easily either..LOL.

But it would be nice for having the basic sewing threads nearby. Plus my cat would LOVE it. Does he count for an entry?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh! I just love this! I need it soooo badly! My threads are in a terrible shape, all jumbled up in an old shoebox. My bobbins, not so much, but it would be nice ot keep them together.
    thanks for the opportunity!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't know if you remember but this thread holder was how I frist met you....love it....

    ReplyDelete
  35. I have my cone threads on a very tippy rack and he spool threads on a wall spool holder. My machine embroidery threads are in a spool chest we found at a flea market. I think I have too much thread...

    ReplyDelete
  36. I keep my thread in containers used to store matchbox cars; however, this would be great for threads that are used on a regular basis.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I just keep mine in a sewing box. I think it would be so nice to have them displayed and easy to get to!

  38. Kelly, what a Generous Giveaway!
My thread is in several different cardboard boxes,
so I really need the Thread Carousel to complement my sewing area!

  39. Hmmm, how much nicer and neater and easier to find my thresd than the old Christmas basket I use now would be. Thank you for this chance.

  40. What an awesome give a way. I have never seen that caddy, its a real spacesaver and I would be soooo happy if it were mine. BTW, Happy Birthday.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Kelly I definetly could use this. Right now my spools are on the floor.

    ReplyDelete
  42. My thread! Oh my thread! Well it is in better shape than my yarn collection.
I keep my thread in one of those plastic bins that has drawers. My cone thread is on the bottom laying down and then I put a tray box on top of that for my spools of thread. My bobbins are also kept in that drawer in a clear plastic bobbin case. This drawer is right next to my sewing machine so that works great. What I don't like is having to move and rearrange everything to get at the thread I need.
Having a thread holder like the prize here would make me smile every time I sat down to sew which I try to do 1-2 times a week. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh I could really use a thread carousel. I have some threads stored on organizers that I bought at Joann's on the wall, I have a flat small thread organizer but it isn't enough and my threads are always falling on the floor or getting tangled with other spools!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hi Kelly,
I have a basket full of thread and 3 plastic totes so it would be wonderful to be able to display the thread where it could be seen.

  45. Like most people, by thread is in a drawer here and in a box there and in a bag there. I've recently redone my sewing space with a new cutting table and sewing machine table. This would look great beside my machine, being both functional and decorative.

  46. I currently have my spools in plastic thread cases, which are stacked rather precariously on top of each other. Bobbins are either under the thread or in a mud beside my machine.
It would clean things up and not make changing thread such a hassle.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I made a fabric basket to keep my spools but it's always difficult to find what I need. This carousel is a great idea, please count me in! Thanks!

  48. What a great product! I love that it spins so you can see all of your threads and that she even thought to add spots for bobbins. Currently my smaller (regular) spools of thread are in a vintage sewing box. The kind that expand outs and has a bunch of different layers (kind of like little drawers) This is great except I can't really see the colors of my threads because the spools stand up on end and all I see are the spool ends!) My large cones are in a Rubbermaid container.

  49. This would be great in my sewing room.....

  50. My thread is everywhere. This would really give me the organizing boost I NEED.

    ReplyDelete
  51. My threads are where ever I am working... so when I need a certain colour I have to run all over the house trying to find the right one.... they sit beside my lounge chair, in the draw on my sewing table, in boxes bags where ever...imagine having them all together in one place.. how good would that be...

  58. My boyfriend bought a bag of variously colored threads on ebay and they're currently living in a plastic grocery bag in a drawer because we have no where else to put them. We can't even find the color that we're looking for because they're so disorganized!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I store my threads in a box, separated in colours, but usually they get all tangled up. I have been looking for a good way of storing and this is awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I store most threads in Sulky boxes--three. And another box that works less well.

I think this prize would be great as I enjoy seeing what might be available as I work.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I store my thread everywhere. I have an office supply carousel that I have some thread in. I also have some in a drawer of an old card catalog and I have some in a tin.
So, this would be great to have all my thread in one place. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  62. What a beautiful piece that would look lovely in my sewing room! I have thread pretty much everywhere right now. I have some in those plastic boxes and some on one of those little wooden racks. This beauty would solve the problem of how to display and store the big cones easily and prettily.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I had NO idea something like this existed...You mean no more searching through plastic bags trying to find thread. Boy, that alone could have me popping straight out of bed and head straight for my sewing machine. This would be wonderful to have and I would be very grateful to win this gorgeous carousel.
Thank you, Virginia and happy anniversary IHAN !!!

  64. This is fabulous! I have my bobbins in a little "bobbin box", and my spools of thread are in a plastic drawer. (Hanging my head a bit here) This would be a beautiful addition to my sewing table, and oh so useful!!

  65. Our thread is stored in too many places. Most is in a box in the closet. Some is in a sewing machine cabinet drawer. Some is just sitting around on tables in the bedrooms, living room, whatever. We moved 2 years ago and never got our thread organized.

    ReplyDelete
  66. My thread is in a drawer, a case and just laying on top of my sewing table. It would be so nice to have it all in one place.

  67. You are just making us tell all our nasty secrets aren't you. OK, My threads are all jumbled up in a plastic bin. Unwinding. Knotted up. Tangled. Oh would that thread carousel be wonderful!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I don't have much, but what I do have just lie in my sewing box - in no order. So this type of system would be wonderful! Of course, I'd want to fill it right up with color if I won it!

  69. What a great organizing tool. Much better than my current search and recover method.

  70. I have a wall rack for small spools - but it is full - and my serger thread is packed into a plastic bin, which always seems to be under a lot of other bins, and always seems to have allowed the threads to tangle! I would love one of these thread organizers to put the thread right where I can see it and use it!

    ReplyDelete
  71. My threads are hanging off the wall...and in the drawers of a nightstand. Some are under my sewing/computer desk in one of those plastic roll around drawer thingies. Yes. I could use some organizational help.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I wish I could post a a photo of my current thread storage situation, but it is non-existent :-(. I only buy threads at the moment I need one for a project because I don't have storage for them and what is left over ends in a big plastic bag where in theory it should be found next time I need this colour. As I say, this is the theory, the practice on the other hand is a different story ...

    ReplyDelete
  73. That would be a great way to organize my sewing area. It is a great mess at the moment!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Oh isn't that a gorgeous thread holder! I have an old (like ooooooold) spool holder that used to be a display rack at a department store many, many moons ago. it's functional - but it's nowhere near as pretty as that carousel!

    ReplyDelete
  75. I currently store my thread in a plastic drawer, on the floor of my bedroom. Not very good but I know where it is. pamspinks.blogspot.com

  76. I currently have two different thread holders and neither one works as well as I wish it would. This would be the solution - LOVE it! Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  77. This thread holder is very cool! I currently store my threads in a plastic tote in snack size zippy bags along with the bobbin if it has thread wound on it. Having my threads available in easy sight would save me so much time! I really like the area for storing much used additional supplies.

  80. Right now I have several sewing boxes and two plastic thread bins with thread in them. I like the idea of having the thread in plain sight. It would make it easier to find the needed color that way. This is a very nice handy rack. I would give it a good home.

  81. Oh My Goodness
    What a concept!!!
I currently have my thread/bobbins on pencils, paint brushes and skewers - lovey thread tails

  82. Oh neato!!! This is definitely something that I NEED! I have a short arm quilting machine and frame and have acquired quite a few spools and cones of thread for the machine. Right now, everything is inn 3 small baskets and a that is all stuffed into a drawer. What a mess!! I have to separate each cone from the rest when I want to use it and it usually ends up with a lot of thread cut off and thrown in the trash. HELP!!!

  84. Happy Anniversary. I have the one for my regular size spools. LOVE it!!! Best item I ever bought.

  85. HA.....I'd be too embarrassed to send pictures of my thread-storage "system". Mine consists of: some thread in a sewing box (not bad, huh?) AND some on the spindles of my sewing table (also pretty good) and the rest are thrown in a plastic, lidded container or sitting around on the kitchen counter, the ironing board, and the end tables in the family room, and oh....LOOK...here is one by my computer desk, too. I have them scattered around so much that I never know if I have a color I need and I then buy duplicates. SO...I really need them all organized and in one place!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Oh this would be amazing! Currently all my thread is in boxes, some tread storage containers, and my bobbins are in a bag. This would definitely keep things more organized!!

Thank you for the chance to win :)

  90. At the end of April I'll be taking apart my sewing room to reorganize and rearrange it. I have thread all over the place! This thread carousel would work great on the side table next to my sewing machine.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  106. Right now, I store my large cones of thread in a bag from buying sheets! It works well for visibility, but sometimes makes a tangled mess!

    ReplyDelete
  107. I have what I have in spools in a little bag together. Doesn't make for a good oversight and they do get tangled up espcially as you are rummaging to find something, so this would be excellent!

    ReplyDelete
  108. My threads are currently in a large index card box. Have to dig thru them all to find what I want. This would make my life so much easier and look really great while doing it.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Presently I have all my threads in two drawers of my index file size filing cabinet drawers. It is good for regular storage as you can see all the spools when you open the drawer, but it would be great to have all the spools I'm working with in one spot so I don't have them spread all over while I switch projects.(Regarding problems leaving comments, if they can't see the box at the end of comments they might have to switch into a different browser. 110. Since I'm new to real sewing, I have been keeping my thread in boxes in a drawer. I keep them by color, but as my addiction increases, so does my thread collection. The thread holder would compliment the wood in my craft room. I can see it there, now.

  111. This would get all of my threads totally organized. What a neat idea!

  112. My fiancee would love for me to have this! It would help keep the thread from showing up all over the house.

  113. Oh, I need about half a dozen of these for serger thread and wooly nylon and bigger spools of cotton piecing thread alone (in several of those plastic boxes with posts meant to hold them, but every time you wiggle a box, they all tip over). Then more of the other kind for the skinny spools, several dozens are in an old plastic "thread case" that folds open (garage sale item) and most of them then end up falling off the little spools, all kinds of misc. threads on three of those big peg board type jobs meant to hang on wall, but I have them leaning up one against the next, several spools in every bag I ever took to a workshop, an ice cream pail and a 9x15x5 vinyl tote (the newer threads I've gotten on sale, variagated cottons and rayons and stuff. And the "antique" threads (10 cents for "boilfast" cotton on wooden spools, etc.) in several smaller plastic cases, and the silk buttonhole threads (also old) in a little cardboard box, and . . . more in the cabinet drawers, under the sewing machine, whereever the cat might have batted them.

  114. I am currently storing my threads in drawers out of the light. Recently, I have had a long counter put in my sewing space and I can already visualize this "piece of furniture" there. Lucky me if I win.
