Day 13 of 30 Days of Giveaways - Floorquilts, Roc-lon Multi Purpose Cloth and Mod Podge

IHAN's 30 Days of Giveaways
Anniversary Celebration
Day 13 Giveaway
and
and

When Ellen Highsmith Silver wrote to me saying she wanted to join in the IHAN Anniversary Celebration I was soooo excited.  I love Ellen's book, Floorquilts.  I first learned about her book while I was in Pittsburgh for Quilt Market.  I was drawn into a booth by Ellen's book Floorquilts.  As I walked into the booth  a very nice gentleman greeted me and asked me if I had ever heard of Roc-lon Multi-Purpose Cloth. I had no clue what it was much less what someone would do with it. When I left I was thrilled to learn all the different things that can be made with Multi-Purpose Cloth

They had my attention.  I thought the Roc-lon Multi-Purpose Cloth was neat in that it didn't frey and it could be used for so many things.  I learned that the fabric is sealed using Mod Podge (all in one glue, sealer and finish).

When I learned that all three companies were going to help IHAN Celebrate....well.....I just can't help but post them together.  The giveaways are separate but I wanted to share with everyone how I learned about these really cool things.

These are students that Ellen Highsmith Silver taught to make Floorquilts.  Aren't they beautiful?  Wouldn't it be great to have one of these on the floor or even wall if you prefer?

Aren't these some great examples of what can be made using Roc-lon Multi-Purpose Cloth?  For more information and ideas click here.  I've had several customers purchase Multi-Purpose Cloth to make banners for their churches.  Your imagination is the limit with this cloth.  You can use it as a window shade because it eliminates light, insulates against heat and cold, provides privacy and acts as a noise barrier.
Mod Podge  is an all in one glue, sealer and finish.  The button above is from  Amy's Mod Podge Rocks blog  It is true, Mod Podge does indeed Rock and so does Amy!!!  Plaid has made Mod Podge since the 60's. It comes in a variety of formulas including: Classic Mod Podge, Hard Coat Mod Podge, Satin Finish Mod Podge, Brush Stroke Mod Podge, Fabric Mod Podge, Paper Mod Podge, Outdoor Mod Podge, Sparkle Mod Podge, Puzzle Saver Mod Podge, Glow-in-the-Dark Mod Podge, Mod Podge Shimmer and Mod Podge Glitter.  Mod Podge is an all in one glue, finish and sealer.  It has been used in decoupage since the 60's.

Ellen's Floorquilts is a perfect example of what can be made using Mod Podge :)  For daily ideas using Mod Podge you want to follow Amy's Mod Podge Rocks Blog and look at Plaid's newsletter here.

As I said when I started this post, these giveaways are separate.

Ellen Highsmith Silver will send one lucky IHAN blog reader a copy of her book, Floorquilts and a kit of all essential supplies minus fabric, of course with which ANYONE can make any of the projects in the book.

The second drawing is for 3 yards of Roc-lon Multi-Purpose Cloth (2 yards will be in the Grand Prize Drawing).  The sky is the limit for what you can make with 3 yards :)

And the third drawing is for a Starter Pack of Mod Podge.  It will be sent to the the address of the winners choice by Amy from Mod Podge Rocks!!!

To enter today's drawing, you need to leave a comment telling us why you would like to win and what you plan on making with  FloorquiltsRoc-lon Multi-Purpose Cloth and Mod Podge Starter Kit.  Please leave a seperate comment for each of the giveaways that you would like to be entered into. If you just comment on one of the items, that will be the only drawing your comment will be entered into.

Thank you soooo very much Ellen Highsmith Silver, Rockland Industries, Plaid and Amy from Mod Podge Rocks.  What wonderful people to want to celebrate with IHAN and offer you all these incredible prizes :)

Smiles,
Kelly

  17. And of course you can never have enough Mod Podge! I used the kind with glitter in it recently to seal my pinewood derby car which I raced in my son's first scouting event. They had a separate race for the grown-ups! It was fun and I came in 4th. But my car was the coolest one there...it sparkled!

  28. The floor quilt book looks fabulous! I need a new floor covering for the space in front of the stove. That is where I would start with the floor quilting.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The multi-purpose cloth would be useful for the floor quilt and possibly a new window covering for the milking room. It may be as close to barn quilt as I get for a little while.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The Mod Podge starter kit sounds like a fun way to sample a few of the varieties that I didn't know they had. It also looks like it will be essential to the floor quilt and the window shade.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I love making rugs and even bought some cloth to make floor cloths, but the hard way. I will have to check out that cloth, sounds interesting and no fray sounds wonderful.

  36. Roclon mutli purpose cloth sounds like a dream to have around for all of those fun projects I want to make with my kids but don't know what to use. I would love to try it for my kids artwork made in to personalized gifts for my parents.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Floor quilts! I had never heard of that, but instead of going through magazines and catalogs and checking Home Depot or someplace else for a cute little rug, you can now make one that is a perfect match to your home decor...or adorable in a new baby's room...or a gift for a friend...so many options!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I wonder if the Roc-lon Cloth could be use to make personalized covers for notebooks or scrapbooks? It's a thought!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I saw some really cute Easter Eggs on another blog and they had used strips of fabric with Mod Podge. I would love to try it along with matching Easter floor quilts!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I've never heard of Floorquilts, and I'm super excited to learn about them! If I won the Floorquilts book and kit, I would make a floorquilt for my (almost) 2 y.o. daughter's room. :o) I think they look awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Comment #2----I'd use the multi-purpose cloth for a floor quilt for our daughter's room. I know, not the most creative use out there but I find that using the right material (tool) for the job when I'm making my 1st attempt is always the best bet.
Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Comment #1 - it looks like my 1st comment did not 'take'.
I recently learned of the floorquilts book and love it. There's a pattern I'd like to use as a 'go-by' to make a floorquilt for our new daughter's room (she's our 1st and arrived 7 weeks early so I'm way behind on projects to get done for her room).

    ReplyDelete
  44. I know Roc-Lon is a good company, and they make great products, but I've never heard of this one!
I just read on your website that it is removable as a wall mural or border. We live in military housing, so anything "permanent" is impossible...but if I could make something (a painting?) with this multi-purpose cloth, and attach it to the walls, that would be AWESOME!! :o) Even if I don't win, I'll have to remember to get some and try it out!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Comment #3 - funny timing as I just used Mod Podge for the 1st time this past week and I'm hooked. I've been looking at everything wondering if I can Mod Podge it. I would use it for a floor quilt!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I ♥ Mod-Podge! :o) I didn't realize they made so many different formulas - I guess Joann's doesn't carry them all! :o)
As my daughter gets older, we're going to be crafting more and more, and I think having/using all the different formulas would make the toddler crafts way more fun! AND...the added bonus of being able to send some of her projects to Grandma and Grandpa. :o)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Okay I really want to win the floor quilts book. I've looked at it quite a few times, thinking of buying it. I would make a beautiful floor quilt for my front hall, where I have an area rug covering the trapdoor to my root cellar. I would love to have a beautiful exciting floor quilt that I had made myself to showcase in that spot.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I a entering the draw for the modpodge. If I am going to make the floor quilt I will need modgepodge. I'm sur I will use it for other things. I have been using it in an advent calendar I'm making for my grandson. I entered one of your other draws for material for the advent calendar. It's a complicated project!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I guess I need to enter the draw for the multi-purpose cloth as well. I live in the Yukon, we have 24 hour daylight in the summer and my daughter has been on my case to make her curtains for her bedroom that block out the light. sounds like this fabric would do the trick!

    ReplyDelete

Several years ago I watched an episode on HGTV where a designer provided a floorquilt for a client and I have been searching high and low for information concerning how to make such a beautiful room-changing work of art. Well, now I know... and I would love to be able to make my "own work of art". Thank you Rockland Industries, Mod Podge & Ms. Ellen Highsmith Silver. Happy anniv. IHAN.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I am learning so much from all of your giveaways! I would love to read the Floorquilts book. I used to work for a woman who made canvas floor coverings and I always thought it would be a neat thing to try.

But, as I've always wanted to make a floor quilt, I'd love to win a copy of Ellen Highsmith Silver's book "Floor Quilts". I think it would be helpful to inspire a design and give me insights to enable me to make a beautiful floor quilt. If I can become good enough, I'd also love to make floor quilts for gifts, as I have friends that I think could use some!

Yay for Mod Podge!! :)

I like the idea of floor quilts because there's really only so many quilts that I can use on my bed (and couches). There's so many options for floor quilts, though!

    ReplyDelete
  102. And I need the multi-purpose fabric to make my floor quilts with. I bet it'd be awesome for that... and if I decide to not use it for that, I could make some really cool fabric kitchen containers.

  151. The MOD PODGE package sounds interesting. Last week I was with a friend confined to an assisted living facility. She was desperate for some Mod Podge for a project.

I will likely share any win here with her.

    ReplyDelete
  166. I would love to win the roc-lon multi purpose cloth, I think it would be fantastic for doing craft activities with my kids, they could make their own banners, bags, and so on and not have to worry about fraying!

  167. I have a lovely sun room that would look great with a floor cloth made with the roc-lon multi purpose cloth. And perhaps I try some stencils with a bit of it, too.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Modpodge!! Modpodge!! I'm just coming to love modpodge. I've been making what I call 'glue fabric' lately by gluing little bitty scraps of fabric together with modpodge and then making things like pins and boxes with it. It's been so much fun and uses up all the little bitty colorful fabric scraps my friends give me.

    ReplyDelete
  169. ok that Roc-lon Multi-Purpose Cloth look AWESOME! I would SO LOVE to try that! My entire family could make something with that. SO COOL! Thanks for the chance to win!

  178. I've wanted to play with making floor cloths for a long time, but didn't have the moolah to get the requisite stuff. The Roc-lon All Purpose Cloth is a great start!

My first effort, with the guidance of a friend whose been pushing me to try for years, would be a mat for under my cat's food and water dishes. He's okay with water (I'nm the guilty one if there's a spill there), but he's a very messy eater. It would be great to just pick up a waterproof mat, dump off the scattered food, and wipe it down. One minute clean up!!

  179. I love the look of the book, Floorquilts, and want to make all of the projects you have pictured. I fear that if I win it, I may start another addiction!

    Brenda

    ReplyDelete
  180. Oh man, I can really imagine the possibilities with all the Mod Podge varieties. Quite a difference from what I was familiar with years ago!!

After my cat mat, I'd do a runner for the hallway coming from my front door. Again, easy clean, better than a rug that has to be tossed into the washing machine, and fun!! Oh, the things I'm already planning in my head!!

  181. Oh, I'd love a copy of that book! After 16 years in the house I still don't have a "real" floor in my kitchen and I've toyed with the idea of making a floorcloth, but canvas is dreadfully expensive and linseed oil takes days and days of good weather to cure so I've not tried it. This sounds like a viable alternative!

    ReplyDelete
  182. That was such an interesting post, I can't wait to see that book. I would love to win "Floorquilts", but if I don't I'm getting it anyway. I would love to make a pretty rug for under a small table, as well as fabric of my choice placments and coasters. I'm so intrigued!!

    ReplyDelete
  183. I read about the Roclon cloth a long time ago and had it on one of my many "to try" lists. My interest is piqued again and I have got to get my hands on some. I would love to use it as the bottom of a rug, and in one of your posts I saw that someone printed on it and would like to try my own design that way for a purse or artwork. Wow, thanks for all the information and inspiration!

    ReplyDelete
  184. I have a gallon jug of mod podge, those little bottles never lasted too long with me! But, I haven't even seen some of those in the variety pack. I'd love to see the others and have a chance to play with them with outside pot projects and picnic cloths.

    ReplyDelete
  185. Gosh, what neat products. Where have I been, hiding in a closet? never saw these products before but if I won, the floormat on the cover of the book got me right off, I'd have to do it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  186. Thanks Roc-lon and Mod Podge. If I won these wonderful items I would make me a new decorative rug/floor cloth for my living room. The one I have under my coffee table is getting a bit shabby and I am tired of it.

    ReplyDelete
  187. Floor quilts that's a new idea and I would love to win the book to discover how to make a beautiful one for my bedroom to go with my bed cover.

    ReplyDelete
  188. I am sure the Roc-Ron Multi Purpose Cloth would come in handy to make a floor quilt + I have never tried that fabric so I would love to give it a go. By the way, thanks to your blog and giveaway I think I am going to put Ellen's book on my wish list, in case I didn't win it here!

    ReplyDelete
  189. I have used Mod Podge for napkins before but would be interested in trying to use the started kit on fabric to make a wonderful floor quilt

    ReplyDelete
  190. I love this idea. It is kind of a different version of the canvas floorcloths.

I think I would need the book...cuz the patterns look amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  191. Is it OK if I say I would love the fabric so I could use the patterns I find in the book?

I am really intriqued with this idea for Christmas gifts.

    OK, for me, too.

    ReplyDelete
  192. Ummm....OK, I feel silly here but I have never seen that modge podge before and I would totally like to try it.

    ReplyDelete
  200. I have never made a floor quilt, but I would love to make one for my basement studio. It would sure brighten that dull area. I'm sure there are lots of designs in the book and I look forward to seeing it at my local bookstore.
