Counting down the hours now....before Fall Quilt Market 2010 in Houston, TX. However, we still have some things to discuss before I go....namely...X-Blocks!!!
This is Patricia Pepe from Quilt Queen Designs. Patricia has designed the X-Block Patterns and Templates. I took some photos of the beautiful quilts that were hanging in her booth during Spring Quilt Market.
"Bright Eyes" is a fun pattern that would be great for a teen as well as a baby. Of course, it would be great for me and I'm not a teen or a baby....anyone want to make me one? LOL
Patchouli is the name of this pattern. Strong yet sensitive - here I go again- like the Patchouli Essential Oil.
This is the wall banner that comes along with the Patchouli Pattern. Two great patterns for the price of one :)Blueprints Pattern also comes with a "Bonus X-tra Quilt Pattern".
Patricia also has a book, Once Upon A Time in X-Blocks Land. "Discover the exciting quilting adventure of X-Blocks! Not just another quilt book, it's a fabric fairytale come true! Use the X-Blocks rotary tool to turn simple blocks into exciting new designs - no more "ho hum" quilts! 9 magical quilt designs included. "
I like that the X-Block patterns are pleasing to the eye and many come with two patterns for the price of one. That is great when you want to make a lap quilt for someone and have left overs to make a smaller quilt too!!
This is what the X-Block Templates look like. They come in 6 1/2 and 7 1/2 inch as well as a Mini and the X-Block Tool Belly Buttons that go along with Once Upon A Time In X-Block Land.
"With the X-Blocks® rotary cutting tool, you can create dozens of spectacular designs that look complex but are incredibly quick & easy! They can be created from strips or easy-to-piece blocks and the fabulous borders are created as you make your X-Blocks® so there is virtually no waste! "
I've had the good fortune of having the Bright Eyes Pattern (Autographed) and the 6 1/2 inch X-Block Template in my possession since May. The best news of all is that I did not open and use either of them....I saved them to give away to a very lucky IHAN blog reader!!! Patricia was kind enough give both autographed items to me!!! THANK YOU Patricia!!!!
If you would like to be the lucky new owner of the Bright Eyes Pattern and the 6 1/2 inch X-Block Template leave a comment on this post telling me why you would like to own it. I know what you are thinking...."why does she ask that all the time?" Right? I ask because I really do want to know why you are interested in a particular giveaway. You must have a reason and it is fun to read those comments. But if you are tired of that question....make up an interesting one of your own....write it in the comment box....and then answer it!!! IHAN is a kinder and gentler sort of place.....:) LOL How about we choose a winner on Thursday Night? I"ll ask Gene to remind me....because he is great at that sort of stuff!!! Gene, will you please remind me on Thursday that I need to do a number generator for a winner?
Smiles,
Kelly
I like the Bright Eyes quilt, but I guess I need to read the pattern to figure out how this template works. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI would like to win the Bright Eyes Pattern and the 6 1/2 template because they look like so much fun to make and if Kelly gets some new fabric at quilt market, I could make the Bright Eyes quilt top for both of us out of it!!
ReplyDeleteI would like to win the bright Eyes pattern because it looks simple and sweet. I always make these complicated things and I need a nice sweet pattern to try out.
ReplyDeleteWhy do I want to win the X-Block well I've seen it demoed several times and have wanted it since the first time I saw it. But with things the way they have been for a while I haven't felt like I've had the extra $$$ to buy it.
ReplyDeleteWhy would I like to own the Bright Eyes Pattern and the X-Block Template?...because Kelly is giving it away!!
ReplyDeleteThe Bright Eyes is a cute pattern. and I would love to try out new tools like the X-Block template.
Would love to have the X-block ruler and pattern. You can do a lot of things with this combination.

Thanks!
Rosemary
I'm intrigued at how this must work and would love to try it for myself. Very interesting. Is there a video to show a tutorial?
ReplyDeleteYou can count me out of this one cause I've owned the X-blocks since they first came out - years ago now.
ReplyDeleteI've made a few quilts with them, and they're always unusual and pretty. *S*
So Jackie, what do you want to accomplish?
ReplyDeleteWell, I would like to get my book published.
The quilt shop I frequent has done a few classes with this ruler and the projects are always awesome but SCARY..so I'd LOVE to win the ruler and take a shot at a project or two. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThese patterns intrigue me. WOW would I like to own one of them, along with the ruler. I've been away from my sewing machine for too long. I believe this give away would entice me to get back to sewing. Have a super time at Quilt Market! Next time invite me, I'd love to be your stowe away!
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by this clever template/pattern, so I would LOVE to win it so I can try it!
ReplyDeleteHere's a question: Why do I adore this wacky Kelly of IHAN? Because she is the most warm, generous and caring blogger I've ever known!!!
Patricia is so very talented. Love all of her delightful designs and how easy it is to create a beautiful quilt with her X-block ruler & patterns.

Although quilting for several years, I mainly did paper piecing. I have yet to make ANY quilt using a template. I think this would be a nice start.
ReplyDeleteGene...no need to random generate...I need to win this one :)
I'd like to win because I love exploring new techniques.
ReplyDeleteI am sure I could find a good use for the prize if I won. It would go nicely in my sewing room!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to expand my horizons and this would be a great new tool to do that. I saw an exhibit of quilts using this tool a few years ago in Lancaster, PA, and thought they were unique. I'd love to give it a try. Thanks. Kathie L in Allentown
ReplyDeleteI am curious how this works(x block), I would love to find out.
ReplyDeleteI love that flower quilt - but don't enter me, I'm so bad at piecing, lol!!! Good luck to everyone!
ReplyDeleteYou know how I LOVE to try new things and that ruler intrigues me. That is why I would like to win. I want a new toy!
ReplyDeleteNow ---take notice Kelly: Dont' forget to draw a winner on Thursday night!!!!
Kelly, blogger crashed on me before received the confirmation so excuse if 2 comments post. My mother is attempting to make a similar x quilt with smaller strips. I press, she trims. It is aggravating! I would like to make one too - without the aggravation. That is why would want the X tool and pattern. The Patchouli pattern (spelling?) is cute. Thanks for the giveaway and safe trip to Market.
ReplyDeleteI would like to have the Bright Eyes pattern because it is a beautiful quilt and you can never have enough of those. Of course I need the template to make the quilt ;-)
ReplyDeleteAlda, Fl
Oh those quilts look really interesting! There is one that I would love to make! So yes I want to be in the drawing. I love trying new rulers!
ReplyDeleteI love these patterns and templates, especially since it is a quick way to sew a stunning quilt and that it does not waste fabric.
ReplyDeleteWhy would I like to win this? Because
ReplyDelete1) it looks great fun
2) I love gadgets and
3) I haven't seen this one here in the UK.
I would love to own this fabulous and intriging template and pattern. I need to experiment with it as it looks like it is designed to be experimented with. :) Fingers crossed for this giveaway and thanks again Kelly for your generosity. hugs Vicki
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try making quilts with the template and pattern, they are absolutely beautiful in the pictures. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great quilting tool. I love quilts that are not main stream and have to say, these quilts fit the bill. I would love to have the X-block tool. So many patterns from one tool, amazing.
ReplyDeleteHi and greetings from Albany, Western Australia. Thanks for making this possible. I would like to win this because it looks like a great tool for making scrap quilts and a nice lady at a garage sale (I think you call them yard sales in the USA) gave me three shopping bags of scraps. I'm hoping to make some scrap quilts and then take them and the rest of the scraps to my next camp to inspire people to make more scrap quilts. Sam
ReplyDeleteLove the Bright Eyes quilt - so cute! I'm very new to quilting, and would love to win!
ReplyDeleteJust like shoes, a girl can never have enough quilting gadgets! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win the pattern and template because I think it's gorgeous! Really the pattern looks like it's quite versatile and could be used with any fabric. That's usually my biggest criteria for buying a pattern. i don't want to have to hunt down specific fabrics that may or may not be available anymore.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like something fun to try~ I'm intrigued by it. :-) Thanks for the giveaway Kelly!
ReplyDeleteHave seen this (ruler) tool and book at my LQS, what great quilts. Would love to win these to make a quilt of my own in some modern fabric.
ReplyDeleteI really, really need to win this because I don't know how they can do those great quilts with one little template. And I am a person who has to have a pattern to follow. I'm not wild enough yet to just cut and sew. I'll worry about how it's done for months and months if I don't win it, and then I'll probably get an ulcer. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love to try something new, the X blocks are interesting. I would love to try it out.
ReplyDeleteI have seen quite a few of these patterns done and I have a new nephew arriving in March and I would like to make him a quilt from the Bright Eyes pattern. It looks so bright and cheery. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI would really like to win this because I saw this new ruler at the Paducah show on my last day there but I had spent all my show money by then!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway. Firstly XBlocks is something new & interesting looking template to me. Bright Eyes & Blueprints patterns are simply pretty to make with the XBlocks ruler. I have no idea how the ruler works but I love tools & notions!
ReplyDeleteI'm always for finding something new to try ANDDDDD I just love giveaways. It's like finding a toy in a box of Cracker Jacks....giggle.
ReplyDeleteBillie
Why do I want to win you ask? Because what could be more fun than a new pattern and a tool to go with it!
ReplyDeleteI like strongly geometric quilts and this pattern and ruler fit the bill. I guess that and selfishness are the only reasons I have. :)
ReplyDeleteooooooooh, la la, I am so lovin the colors of the Blueprints Pattern - they are my absolute FAVE, blue, teal, purple & green. I've looked at this template before (in IHAN, of course!) and never had a clue what it was used to make or how to use it. Because my living space is so limited, it's best that my tools are multi-functional. My bundt pan also functions as my banana bread loaf pan, my floor doubles as my cutting table, my screw driver doubles as my hammer - you get the picture. Two designs out of one pattern and one tool is twice the fun!! Plus, being so new to quilting, I need all the help (patterns, tools, directions, etc) that I can find! Thank you for offering such great giveaways!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE modern quilts and patterns. These patterns, along with the ruler/template fits the 'bill' for me!
ReplyDeleteThat is very cool!! What a great way to use a ton of strips!! I've got a stack of batiks that I've whacked and this would be the perfect solution. PLEASE count me in on this one!! Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win because I bought an X-block pattern last year because it was just so cute! However, I've never invested in the ruler I need to make it....so I need to win this giveaway! Thanks for the opportunity! dsb448@att.net
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this prize for my church's Hugs Ministry. We make quilts, pair them with stuffies and give them to the local fire department for kids in crisis situations. Thank you for the opportunity to win this pattern and template. Take care and God bless, Cory
ReplyDeleteI would like to own it because I love all of those quilts! I would love to be able to make one of my own! :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to own the X-block ruler and pattern, I've been itching to try something new. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I'd like to win also. Is it too late to enter? Have fun at Quilt Market.
ReplyDeleteLove, love the look of these quilts. I am a long-time quilter and am ready to try something new.
