One World One Heart

2/2/2011: Edit:  I've had several comments that indicate people think I have made the bag posted.  I did not make this bag....it is from C & T Publishing

Welcome to my blog, I Have A Notion, my name is Kelly and I'm so happy you came by to say Hi.  I am participating in the One World One Heart Blog Hop.

I live in the US, Ohio to be exact.  It is cold and snowy here and we are expecting 12 inches of snow in the next few days....it will be a winter wonderland complete with sledding and snow ball fights (if the snow will pack...we'll see).

A little about me: I love to work with my hands and I've done all types of embroidery, crochet, quilting, sewing, pottery, scrapbooking, and photography.  I love the outdoors and nature.....and being surrounded by loving creative people who support one another in their quest to explore their authenticity.

The door prize is this new beautiful  Rhapsody Tote Bag (Ricky Tims Design). The zippered tote is made from durable, 100% recycled polypropylene, creating a beautiful new use for tires and plastic bottles that would otherwise end up in the landfill and it measures 15-1/2in x 15in x 8in.

Please leave a comment on this post letting me know a little about you and what city, state, province, country you are from.

Thank you for visiting and I truly believe we are all connected by this one world/ planet and what we do affects one another no matter how far away we are physically.  May you all smile and make our world a more loving and accepting place for all who live here.

Smiles & Peace
Kelly

  3. Hi Kelly - I am a neighbor from MI - cold and snowy here too - with lots on the way. I love sewing and knitting and am working on my quilting skills. I love IHAN :)

  5. Kelly, I've been here to see you before. I'm Shelley from norhtern Maine. I think I'd be hard pressed to find anyplace in the northeast with less snow than us...quite the turnaround for us! The snowmobile trails only opened up within the last three weeks; very bad for our area businesses that have a trade with snowmobilers coming to our valley to sled. The international snowmobile festival is on for this weekend with 600 miles of trails crossing the US/Canadian border...I've lived here all my life and hate snowmobiles :) LOL

  8. I think you know just about all about me. I have a similiar bag with a design by Paula Nadelstern. A fellow quilter gave it to me. I love it and another one would be great. (hint hint)

About me: I am from Alabama but lived two years in Ohio actually in Mount Vernon Ohio, Knox County. I was there for the blizzard of 1978. Being from Alabama, and having been told that they didn't close school for snow, I got up and was ready to walk thru the blizzard to class. I was actually disappointed that we didn't have classes. But then I had a great time playing in the snow and sliding down hills.

  9. Hello everyone, My name is Patty and I live in a small town in south west Iowa. I started out doing all kinds of hand work, crocheting, macrame, cross stitching, embroidery and sewing clothes for my kids when they were little. Then the quiting bug bit me and now that's what I do most of the time. I also love to read and spend time looking at all the wonderful pictures of quilts on blogs. I can find alot of inspiration on blogs. I have 8 grandchildren and love spending time with my family.

  10. Hi there Kelly. I've been following your blog for a while and I always enjoy your cheeriness and sense of humour. I live in the Yukon in Canada. I'm somewhat isolated quilting wise, with only one local quilt store and thousands of miles or an international border to the next one. I do have some quilting friends, but I have really expanded my quilting horizons through blogging and reading other's blogs.

  11. Wow! I am the first to leave a comment!

I am an avid quilter. This is my love and my relaxtion. I am a mother of 5 grown children and 10 grandchildren...and another is on the way! I live in Central Texas, next to Fort Hood. I love the winters here, the summer....not so much! LOL!

I love your blog! I look forward to reading it everyday! Keep up the good work!

  12. I am from Northwestern Ontario, Canada. Presently we have been in a deep freeze for the last 3 weeks - the wood stove is being stoked constantly and I am cuddled under a quilt as much as is possible!! Awesome bag!

  13. Thanks Kelly.

I'm always reluctant to talk about where I live and where I used to live, due to the identity theft whackos out there.

    I live in Texas.

    Sorry.

  15. Hi Kelly, you probably know me by now, lol. I'm from Ramsgate in the UK. That is half an hour drive north from where the English Channel is at it's narrowest. How nice you are participating in the bloghop, although in this post at least no new blog for you :-)

  16. I am Kathie L from Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA. I am one of your followers and one of your customers. I'm lucky to live in an area known for its quilts and belong to both a guild and a quilt study group. Both have enabled me to meet some talented quilters. Best wishes to you and the world.

  18. Hi my name is Linda, I am originally from the UK but now living in France. At the moment I am trying to make a tote bag but think I must have picked the most difficult pattern to do as I am tearing my hair out trying to get the corners right. Please let me win this one!!

  21. So, I'm #1 to leave a note and I just want to say how much I enjoy reading your blog Kelly. I am Shelley from New Brunswick,Canada, have the REDQUILTS blog, live in a border town with Maine and love to quilt!! I believe we are connected to each other by what we do...it is true..what goes around comes around and if I can make someone's day a little merrier with a smile or helpful hand, then that it what I try to do. If you pull my name for your doorprize, I would like it to go to Mary at Quilt Hollow, who has been a good blog buddy to me this past year :)

  22. I live in Georgia, US and it is rainy and cool here, but no snow. Thank goodness. I'm a fairly new quilter and it has become an addiction. :) Thanks for the giveaway.

  23. Hi Kelly, we already know each other, but I'll play. I'm Dana from Key Largo, Fl. USA. No snow here, it's 74 degrees and sunny with 80 degrees in our near future.

  24. Hi Kelly, I live up in Ontario Canada in a little town called Stratford. We just moved here about four months ago because our daughter is not well and really needed us to help her out. she is on Dialysis three days a week and we look after our grandson Jonah who is four and blind. It has been a big change in our life's at 68yrs but we just love him and he is such a joy. I have been quilting for about 15 years and just love it. I have done many things over the years such as cross stitch , knitting sewing etc. but when I started quilting that stole my heart. I don't have a blog but follow about 90 blogs yours included. We are also getting that snow storm and already have much snow but it is winter. Love and blessings Sandra

  25. Hi from chilly, rural North Central Florida, USA. My favorite pasttimes are quilting and weeding. The vista from our French doors is a cow pasture. Most of my time is spent facilitating my sweetheart of a mother doing whatever she wants to do.

  26. Hi Kelly (and everyone else!)!
I'm Karin, and I've been sewing as long as I can remember, but only recently started teaching myself to quilt. I have a couple of small wallhangings under my belt, so I did a couple of charity quilts for even more practice. One went to a female soldier, one's due back to Quilt for Kids (courtesy of Kelly).

Right now, we're living in our RV in Weslaco, TX, which is only 7 miles from Mexico, so, thankfully, no snow for us. Tho, for some reason, there WAS a warning for sleet on Thursday! YUCK! Come April, we'll probably head back to the East Coast to see some relatives we've not seen in 5 years or so....then maybe up to Michigan to see some winter friends. Hard to say where we'll turn up next - if we get hitch itch or a new workamper job, we just hook up & roll on down the road.

Thanks for sharing your humor and pictures with us, as well as all your product reviews. I've learned (and laughed) a LOT and have had lots of fun being a loyal follower!

  27. HI I'm Judy from Massachusetts! Its cold cold here, we have about 3ft of snow on the ground and we are to get more tomorrow and Wednesday they are predicting 2 feet more and freezing rain and ice. I am hoping we do not lose power but am preparing for it with lots of quilts and some hand work to keep busy. Getting batteries, candles and flashlights ready. whoo boy here we go again.

  28. Hi there Kelly! I live in West Virginia and we are having some really bad weather also! We are currently expecting rain/snow/ice! I am tired of shoveling snow, but like the snow days home from work! I have quilted for a long time, but still have a lot to learn. I love to knit, crochet and embroider.

  29. Hiya Kelly,

The bag is really darling. Just a short bit of info I live in lovely Southern California and have been quilting for around 5 years. I have a HQ16 for quilting and a Husqvarna Viking for embroidery.

  38. I am from Ohio and love to do anything crafty...sewing, crochet, knitting, beading, yadda yadda yadda. I taught myself to knit when I was ten, using my own hard earned cash from babysitting to purchase a pair of knitting needles, a ball of yarn (cheap and ugly) and a "Learn How To" book (which I still have!) The tote is just lovely for my latest project...a large afghan for my mom and dad. Love your site, Kelly

  51. Hello from Mesa, Arizona, which is southeast of Phoenix and near the feet of the Superstition Mountains. Until this afternoon, it's been so warm that I normally have the doors and windows open. But we've got a freeze warning for tonight and they're saying that we're due to have a high of about 42 tomorrow. No complaints, though, since I know some of you are in the "minus temps".

I've been sewing since I was in grade school, but only discovered quilting about 16 years ago and love it. There's always something new to learn or to try to do, and for me it's been art quilts over the past year.
