Ellen has come up with a new method for sealing her Floorquilts using Rit Dye and Mod Podge (You know Mod Podge Rocks don't ya? ). Eddie from the Rit Dye Blog even posted photos and a tutorial here. Check it out...it is perfect for a summer project and fast too.

I was recently telling someone about using Roc-lon Multi-Purpose Cloth to make Floor Cloths/Quilts. So if you didn't know you can use up some fun fabrics by making a Floorquilt....now you do :) If you have some Rit Dye..check out the tutorial above...you could have a really spanky project to show off to your family and friends.

ReplyDeleteIt is fun to see that the technique she uses with the dye is very similar to a technique I learned for painting with acrylic paints.
ReplyDeleteMod podge floor quilts. Need to send this to my youngest. She's the mod podge queen. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is really neat, how she did that and something like that would be nice for my daughter. I wouldn't use the painted on backing though, wouldn't wash too well, easier to buy the rubber to put underneath.

I love this technique. I need an extra day in the week to try new things. MIght just have to name a day for that! Are the ladies in the picture all holding floor quilts they made?

ReplyDeleteLooks like LOTS of fun! I'm in a dyeing bee - hmmm. This would work at a LONG retreat (with the overnight drying) and the drying between the various steps. How did this work in a workshop setting?
