She's Alive & Kickin'

Hey y'all!  It's Friday night and Kelly's hand surgery has gone very well!  She's out of the hospital and on her way home, and I hear she's ready to party hearty!  Knowing her though, she'll probably just go home and vacuum, wash dishes and sew a block or two.

She appreciates all your well wishes and she hopes you'll understand if she doesn't get a reply to your comments right back to you.  She reads every single one of 'em tho, so keep your cards and letters comin, and let's see who can make her laugh the hardest.

  1. Hooray for the successful outcome. I had to have my wrist pinned several years ago. Seeing those pins sticking out when they took the cast off was pretty freaky! I wonder if my grandson would believe me if I told him the scars were from the year I dressed up as Frankenstein's sister....

  2. THanks for letting us know the red head is alive and kicking!! I'm sure she was plenty entertaining to the hospital staff, but we want her back!! Speedy Recovery!!
    Hugs, hugs, and more hugs!!

  3. I'm glad you are doing well because I am hurting for you -- but the good news is that, if there are pins sticking out as Barb suggests, you can use your recovery time learning to crochet, right? Ouch.

  4. She'd better just take it easy, lol - I'm so glad the outcome was good, and I hope NOBODY expects a reply to their comments, yikes! Keep the computer away from her! Maybe put knock-out drops in her oatmeal, she needs to rest!

  7. Keep your hand moving. I just went through this. I had 12 weeks of PT . The atrophy after 1 week in a cast was incredible. I pray you a speedy recovery. It's unbelievable how much you can do one handed.

  8. So happy to hear that all went well. Now to keep this girl down long enough to heal. The Flamingo's are having a party. They know Kelly is not there to capture their antics. But it won't be long :-) I loved the comment someone made about pins being only for sewing and quilting. Yes Kelly, we will expect some insights on the type of pins they used.

  9. I am happy to hear that Kelly is doing well and I hope she takes it easy and lets her hand heal. I never sit still and never healed properly, so not a smart thing to do;)

  10. I sure hope her Dr. took advantage of using all the great tools that Kelly had to recommend (e.g. the Beam N Read light so they have good lighting during surgery, some super strong & fine needles for stitching, and those famous Famore Micro Fine tweezers for pulling out any misc. threads). I'm sure she has oodles of other great products to recommend for the Drs & nurses too.

Sure hope Kelly has a speedy recovery. And, I'm sure the IHAN family is going to pamper her while she is recovering.

Big hug to the entire IHAN family, especially to Kelly.

  11. So sorry about the hand. It is amazing how much pain one little hand can cause. I hope you have a speed recovery. No sticking a ruler down the cast, no matter how much it itches and no sneaking the cast off and using the hand when no one is looking. Don't ask me how I know, I plead the 5th.

  13. The last post I saw, you mentioned a break, not surgery... or I read it so fast I missed it! Speedy healing... the good news is you won't have to do the dishes for a few weeks.

  17. I just read about this on another blog and had to hop right on over to send Kelly my very best wishes for a speedy recovery. I know what this is like...I broke my wrist shortly before traveling to Vietnam to bring our baby boy home. Take care of yourself and make sure you follow doctor's orders.
