Day 16 of 30 Day of Giveaway - Laundry Basket Quilts

IHAN's 30 Days of Giveaways
Anniversary Celebration
Day 16 Giveaway

The first time I heard Edyta Sitar speak was at the Toledo Gathering of Quilters.  She had come to give a program and share her quilts.  It was such a wonderful experience for me.  Edyta did not just share details about how she made her quilts, she shared the real life stories behind what inspired her to make the quilts.  Her quilts took on new dimension for me and I began to think differently about quilting.  I volunteered to help her husband hold up quilts while she gave her lecture.  Being 6' tall is an advantage for holding up quilts for others to see.  My secret motive was to be able to see them close up and touch them too.

These are 5 of Edyta's patterns from Laundry Basket Quilts.  She sent them to be given away to 5 very lucky IHAN blog readers.
.

I really like Edyta's two books:  Hop to It and Friendship Triangles

Both books are excellent.  I love applique so I just had to have Hop To ItFriendship Triangles came out after Fall Quilt Market and IHAN was fortunate enough to be able to give an autographed copy to a lucky IHAN blog reader :)  Many guilds and friends have had a great time participating in the Triangle Block Exchange Program Edyta shares in her book.

That's not all....Edyta now designs fabric for MODA too!!!
I have purchased her Aloha fabric line and I love, love, love it!!! To purchase some of Edyta's fabric you can click here and you will magically be taken to the land of beautiful fabrics :)

Now you know why I like Edyta Sitar's patterns, books and fabrics....she has a gift!

The above pictured patterns will be given to five very lucky IHAN blog readers.  To qualify please leave a comment on this post telling us if you are familiar with Edyta's work and why you would like to win one of her patterns.  Feel free to share your preference so if  you win I'll know what pattern you would like :)

Thank you Edyta and Laundry Basket Quilts for joining in IHAN's Anniversary Celebration!!!

Smiles,
Kelly

My Favorite Calendar by Edyta Sitar, Laundry Basket Quilts

I like this calendar so much that I am keeping it in my sewing area so nothing gets written on it.  I was actually excited to be able to take the wrap off of it and hang it up.  Isn't it beautiful?

No surprise it is by Edyta Sitar, Laundry Basket Quilts.  Her work is some of my absolute favorite.

My favorite page is March.  Lucky me because my birthday is in March.  I love this pattern and the batiks Edyta used.

You know what else this calendar has?  Not one, but two patterns!!  How nice is that....I think that is so cool.

This is the other pattern....isn't it fun?  I think it is very cheerful.  Do you treat yourself to things that make you smile?  I'd love to hear about them.

Now....I almost hesitate telling everyone about another one of my favorite snacks.  The last time I shared.....there was a serious run on the market and now I can't find any for myself...I should have told everyone never to eat a Tim Tam and if they came into contact with them to immediately ship them to me and I would take them to a special toxic waste site (my kitchen cupboard!!!).  But noooooo.....I wasn't that smart.

To demonstrate that I have "hopped on the clue bus" I want all of you to know....what ever happens.....under no uncertain circumstances should you ever eat a Swirly Gummy Bear by Black Forest.  Don't do it....honestly (a lie) don't ever try them.....you will hate them....I'm certain you will get very ill (another lie) so just send them to me and I'll get them to the secret toxic waste site that I know of....I'm just looking out for my...I mean ....your best interest.

Swirly Smiles,
Kelly

Win Edyta Sitar's new book, "Friendship Triangles"

Here it is, Edyta Sitar's (Laundry Basket Quilts)new book, "Friendship Triangles". Guess who has an autographed copy to give away? You can't even buy it yet.

Good Guess!!!
I am at Widewater Retreat Center in Liberty Center, OH for the weekend. We are having a ball but I don't have my pix from Houston with me. I'd love to show you the picture of Edyta in Houston. She was her usual lovely self sharing about her new book. She recommends doing triangle exchanges and she has paper templates out so every one's triangles will the the same size. I love this idea.

To get your name in the hat to win this book, you need to leave a comment for one entry. If you are a follower you get two entries. If you blog about this giveaway you get three entries. Everyone who purchases from IHAN website gets 5 entries. You only need to leave one comment and tell me the number of entries you have. In your comment I want to hear why you want to win this book. Any comments without the "why" will not be counted so please leave the reason you want to win this book :) The deadline for entries is Monday, Oct. 19th at 12:00PM CMT. Edited:...don't shoot me....the deadline is Wed. Oct. 21st at noon. I made a mistake...my first.

I was fortunate enough to hear Edyta speak at the Gathering of Quilters in Toledo, OH. Her lecture was excellent and informative. I really like her patterns so I treated myself to her calendar while in Houston. I figured if I were going to give away her book I should have something to keep for myself. I could kick myself because I did not remember to ask for it to be autographed too....schucks...next time. The calender has two free patterns too!!! If you want to treat yourself to this beautiful calendar....click here :)

Having fun at retreat Smiles, Kelly

Edyta Sitar's Quilts

On March 19th, Edyta Sitar (Laundry Basket Quilts) came to speak to the Gathering of Quilters in Toledo, OH. When she asked for volunteers to help hold up her quilts while she was speaking I jumped to my feet. Being 6 feet tall with long arms is an advantage when holding up quilts. I was able to see her work up close and touch all those lovely fabrics. Ohhhh I had a ball. I think I may have been drooling, eek. I got to chat with her husband while we held up some of the larger quilts. I suggested that perhaps after all this hard work I could select a quilt to take home.....I'm so glad he laughed....well....maybe not so glad....but it was nice that he had a great sense of humor.

I could not believe how many quilts Edyta brought. There must have been 50 or more. Edyta's tallent is evident. I love the colors she has selected (did I mention she designs fabrics and patterns?) for her quilts. This was the first time I had seen batiks mixed with other fabrics.

After her lecture I asked Edyta if I could post some of her work on my blog and she agreed. This is an exerpt from her website:
http://www.laundrybasketquilts.com/

Every time I begin a new quilt, it is normally because of a person or event that has inspired me. Sometimes it can be for a loved one in need, birth of a child, a thank you or simply a tribute to a natural beauty that I have experienced, such as a lovely sunset. The first person that inspired me in quilting was my husband's grandmother - Anna Sitar. Her love and patience that was invested into quilts will forever remain imprinted in my mind. Great quilters have taught, inspired, and challenged me to develop a love for quilting and I hope to be able to share some of the beauty of quilting with you.
Elegant Garden Blocks:

After the lecture I went over and studied some of her patterns. Specifically the Elegant Garden Applique blocks. I think these would be beautiful in Punchneedle as well. If anyone would like to punch one of her patterns I'd love to have it posted on my blog. Please let me know if you do one of them. I will at some time get to punching one myself. As you have gathered by reading my posts.....I have great ambitions for a woman with two young children. I guess I'm an optimist :)

Edyta's New Book:

Available at: http://www.ihavea-notion.com/ along with many of Edyta's patterns. I plan to list all of her patterns however I have not had time to list them all in my store. If there is one you want and don't see it, please let me know.

I've got to run cook dinner. I have had the worst time trying to figure out how to move photos around a blog. If you have expertise....please...PLEASE....pretty please e-mail me at IHaveANotion@yahoo.com so I too can learn how to move these pix aound. I will eventually find the time to google the "how to" about moving photos....but not tonight!!
Have a great night.
Kelly
