Quilt in A Day - Eleanor Burns at Spring Quilt Market 2010

Edited 6/29/10
Lady Eleanor Burns Schoolhouse Presentation Spring Quilt Market 2010

Lady Eleanor is sporting an apron inspired by her new book, Quilt Blocks on American Barns.  You have to know if Lady Eleanor is talking there will be smiles, laughter and everyone will have a great time!!
This is a beautiful example that was held up for showcase how beautiful the patterns are from Quilt Blocks on American Barns.  This particular quilt was made by Patricia Knoechel and was quilted by Annie Potter, long arm quilter.  The lavender and green really appeals to me. Edit: I applogize for the misspelling of the machine
quilter for Lavender Fields.  The correct spelling is Amie Potter.  Thanks to who ever sent the comment!!

Diana Edgemon made this quilt in warm natural tones from the Kansas Troubles Fabric line.
Lady Eleanor continues to talk while a crazed Farmer rifles through her belongings.  What fun would a Schoolhouse on Barn Quilt Blocks be without the entire cast right?
I like the energy of the colors unfortunately I did not get the name of the person who made this quilt.  It can be difficult to take photos with one hand and write with the other!
You know I resonate with this quilt, "The Funny Farm"  made by Sue Peters.  I think this might just explain some of the following photos too.
Eleanor continues to talk and says something about when Pigs Fly and then came a Flying Pig right up the isle....what a hoot.
Posted by Picasa
Then came a crazy man being chased by an attendant from the local "home of the mentally otherly abled."
I have no idea how this fella managed to escape while still wearing a straight jacket.  Yes, that is a straight jacket for those of you who have never seen one...LOL.
I think they need to use more restraints next time....perhaps his shoe laces should be tied together so he could not run so fast.
After Schoolhouse I was walking down the hall and the Quilt In A Day Clan were gathered chatting.  I asked for a photo and they all smiled.  What a fun loving group.
Then they insisted I get into the photo.....I was reluctant to stand with such a clan....but I thought I would do them a favor :)  Snickers.

On the Market Floor I stopped by the Quilt In A Day booth several times but Lady Eleanor and Prince Orion were always working.  I decided I would just go ahead and shoot some pix.

Twice As Nice Plus More is the pattern you are looking at on the back wall.  It includes instructions for 3 quilts.  I just love the scalloped edges on the border below.   They used the Scallops, Vines, & Waves Template by Quilt In A Day.  My mood feels lighter just looking at this quilt again.
Orion and Eleanor were kind enough to give me this incredible gift pictured below.  You can imagine my surprise and gratitude.
It includes an Autographed copy of Quilt Blocks on American Barns, a very fun tote bag and project bag,  a pin with a photo of Eleanor, a package of "On Eleanor's Farm" pre-printed fusible web that includes 6 Chickens and 6 Roosters, and a package of "Quilt Blocks on American Barns" fusible web, non-woven fusible interfacing and templates that includes Windmills, Chickens and Roosters, Gambrel Barn Silos, Gothic Barn Roofs, "American Barns" text and half rectangle template.

Quilt Blocks on American Barns has excellent photos and instructions for completing each project.   There are stories of some of the barns Eleanor visited and lots of great pictures too.

Here is a close-up of the pin.....isn't it great? I think so too

You all know that when people give me things I typically have a hard time not giving it away on my blog.....it just seems like the right thing for me to do.  So, I'm going to give all of you an opportunity to win this gift package that includes everything you see above in the photo.  Well.....almost everything......

That pin jumped from the photo onto my camera strap and it won't come off.  I'm so terribly sorry to say that it will NOT be included in the giveaway.  I'm really sorry. (fiction.....the part about being sorry )

Leave a comment on this post telling me why you want to win this great collection and you have to promise you will make a Barn Quilt or wall hanging.  Non-reply bloggers and anonymous posts will not be counted unless your e-mail address is included in the comment.  The drawing will be done by random number generator on the 4th of July.

Smiles,
Kelly

IHAN Exclusive - Quilting Royalty Is Expecting A Princess

The IHAN blog has the exclusive ultrasound photos of  Princess Kylee Marie who will join a  Royal Quilting Family on or near November 9, 2010.
Notice the hands in front of the face?  Interesting isn't it?  Do you think that says anything about what family she may belong to?  Looks to me like she is going to have great hand eye coordination....which is extremely important for quilting, don't you think?
This Princess will be absolutely beautiful, intelligent, outgoing, cheerful, hardworking, compassionate, caring, and very creative.  Can you guess what family she belongs to?

Recognize this fella? Prince Orion Burns.....well.....he is the Proud Father of the beautiful Princess Kylee Marie Burns who is expected to make her arrival sometime in early November.
Teresa, "Mommy", is reportedly doing very well. She is a RN Hospice Nurse.  I don't have any photos to share. I need to stake out "the Royal Compound" to get more photos.  You have no idea how much money I had to pay the Ultra Sound Technician to get these exclusive photos.  I tell you, IHAN has spent countless millions to be "THE FIRST" to publish the story!!! (fiction)

While hiding in the bushes at the Quilt In A Day Royal Headquarters I did happen to hear there are some incredible preparations going on for the newest Princess' Royal Quarters.  When I get wind of the projects.....I'll be sure to share.  You know me....I can't keep my mouth shut/ typing fingers still.

Lady Eleanor with a photo of her adorable Grand Children.

The Royal Grand Children at Play with Lady Eleanor.  I'll bet you 10 bucks that Lady Eleanor has a photo of the Kylee's Ultrasound and she carries it with her.....I bet I win lots and lots and lots of 10 dollar bills!!!

Stay tuned for a review of Eleanor's Latest Book, Quilt Blocks on American Barns.  Don't be surprised if there is a wonderful Giveaway with that post too :)

Smiles,
Kelly

PS:  (You may notice they changed the title from the original title I heard about while hiding in the bushes at the QIAD Compound.....American Tattoos on Biker Babes Booties....guess that was just too "out there" for Eleanor....she took the safe route with the American Barns don't you think?  Me too!! LOL

AccuQuilt - Spring Quilt Market 2010- New Licensed Dies

Since IHAN is currently hosting an GO! Fabric Cutter  GIVEAWAY for a GO! Fabric Cutter I thought it would be fun to start with AccuQuilt.  I have mixed the photos from Schoolhouse* and Quilt Market for this post.

On the far left you can see a smidgen of a sample of Lady Eleanor's GO! Blazing Star, Lady Alex's GO! Bountiful Baskets, Lady Sharon's GO! Rose of Sharon and Sir Rick's GO! Arabesque #2.

Linda Pumphrey, National Sales Manager, opens  AccuQuilt Schoolhouse Presentation.
Lady Eleanor was her usual funny self during Schoolhouse (stay tuned for more photos).  Here she is introducing her new AccuQuilt Licensed Die GO! Blazing Star

There are lots of screens with presentations at Schoolhouse.  Why do I take a photo of the slide-show presentation?  (shrugging shoulders now)  Maybe so you will feel like you were there with me....maybe so I'll remember what I was doing there....in case my mental Rolodex slows down......oh who cares really....just enjoy the pix :)
This is an example of a quilt made using the GO! Blazing Star die. (gently borrowed from AccuQuilt :)

(this pix was taken during the unveiling of the Rose of Sharon Quilt Challenge by EQ, more on that later)
Sharon Pederson has brought the "Sharon" back to the Rose of Sharon Block"!!!  The new licensed die for the GO! Fabric Cutter makes cutting the Rose of Sharon pattern a zip, just cut and GO!.

Lady Sharon had to use her GO! Rose of Sharon Die on the GO! Fabric Cutter  to cut over 800 flowers (with fusible on the back).  Look how well her die held up!!!!  The GO! is not supposed to handle mass production....but it looks like it can handle a load of wear and tear and still keep cutting (Timex and AccuQuilt might consider a merger....it keeps a licking and keeps on ticking/cutting? No...ok forget it!)

Lady Sharon and Lady Alex are showing off the winning blocks from the Rose of Sharon Quilt Challenge hosted by The Electric Quilt Company.  We were not allowed to post any photos of these winning blocks before it was officially announced at Quilt Market.  No worries about IHAN posting secret photos....I had no camera cord!!!  LOL.
Sir Ricky Tims introduced his new GO! Fabric Cutter Dies, GO! Arabesque #2  and GO! Arabesque #3.  Some folks overestimate my skills with photo editing.  I know you can paste Sir Rick's eyes from one photo to another....but not this gal.  You get the pix just as I took it....eyes closed.  One benefit of this photo is that if you are in love with Ricky Tims, you can now visualize what he would look like with his eyes closed kissing you.  ROFL :)

Look how beautiful these blocks are!!!  You can use the dies in a number of ways.  You can place your fabric over only partial areas of the die to create your own variation of designs too.  We call that, "TOTB", Thinking Outside The Box!!!  (I'm not sure who we are exactly.....)
These are photos I took at the AccuQuilt booth at Quilt Market.  These show the Studio Die Cutter cutting Sir Ricky's patterns.
This is The Studio Cutter, available only through AccuQuilt.

Since I was running around trying to get photos of the Schoolhouse presentations I missed parts of some of them.  Unfortunately I missed Lady Alex Anderson's portion of the class : ( I'm soooo sorry Lady Alex. I will add the photos of her new Licensed Dies and show you samples of blocks you can make using her new GO! Bountiful Baskets and GO! Quarter Square-4" Finished Triangle
And....this is a sample of a quilt using Alex's GO! Bountiful Baskets Die (gently borrowed from AccuQuilt :)
And this is a quilt made using her GO! Quarter Square-4" Finished Triangle NEW Licensed Die .

I know I am not the Queen of Quilting and don't really have the authority to "donk" anyone with knighthood and ladyhood (?) titles.....but it sure makes the reading so much more fun doesn't it?  Perhaps Queen Elizabeth should come for a visit and bring her "donker."  ROFL

Oh....the "donker" goes by another more formal name, it is called a "Sceptre" too!  I guess I'll never make the Royal Court with my personalized IHAN  nouns and adjectives.

This is my first installment of Spring Quilt Market 2010 in Minneapolis.  I have to take my co-workers to play now.  More soon!!

Donked Smiles,
Kelly

*Schoolhouse is a series of  presentations that are held on Thursday before Quilt Market opens.

Day 31 of 31 Days of Giveaways - Twice As Nice...Plus More

IHAN's 30 Days of Giveaways
Anniversary Celebration
Day 31

by Anne Dease
and

We can't stop the giveaways until everything has been given away right?  RIGHT!!  Everyone is going to want this Twice as Nice....Plus More pattern booklet by Anne Dease.  Why?  Because with this pattern you can make two or three quilts at the same time.  All you need is a Jelly Roll and a few additional fabrics to make two and even three quilts.

Quilt in a Day didn't stop at the pattern, they also sent the 9 1/2 inch Triangle Square Up Ruler to go with the pattern.  Now all you need is a Jelly Roll and some fabric for borders, binding and backing.

Thank you so very much for these lovely gifts Quilt In A Day and Eleanor  I will really enjoy them.....oops I mean.....a lucky IHAN blog writer will enjoy these....ok I've got to get this straight....one lucky IHAN blog reader will be thrilled to win and I'll be so sad to see the 9 1/2 inch Triangle Square Up Ruler and Twice as Nice Plus More pattern booklet leave IHAN headquarters.

If I were not counting  hundreds of comments I'd run downstairs and whip up a sample to show everyone Twice as Nice Plus More quilts....but I would make lots of folks very sad so you are just going to have to settle for the beautiful photos on the pattern.

I posted Eleanor's book, Day and Night Quilt  earlier in this giveaway and let everyone know about her Newsletter, Community Forum, and Blog....I think I left out her Facebook page....but I want to know who signed up for the Newsletter, checked into her blog or Facebook page.  If you did please leave that in your comment on this post....I'm just curious :)  I forgot to mention there are Free Patterns on Quilt in a Day's website...we love free patterns :)

Don't forget to pre-order Eleanor's new book, "Quilt Blocks on American Barns."  I don't know who started the rumor that the title of the books was, American Tattoos on Biker Babes Booties (a lie).  Some folks just can't get their facts straight :)

There are move giveaway announcements tomorrow so stay tuned!!

Smiles,
Kelly
