GO! Fabric Cutter GIVEAWAY

DANGER WILL ROBINSON

Danger?  Possibly!!!  Especially if you are prone to getting so excited that you can't sleep at night and you accidentally use the hair dryer in the shower the next morning.  I know, I know.....but it could happen.

I've been thinking about ways for people to enter the Giveaway for a GO! Fabric Cutter!!!  I know many of you are not the best contortionists....and you know I would laugh myself silly watching videos of quilting contortionists...but that may be too much to ask for.....so....

What do you think would be an interesting, fun, silly, crazy, intelligent, leg slapping.......way of having people enter to win an GO! Fabric Cutter by AccuQuilt?

Leave your suggestions on this post and if your idea gets chosen, you get 10 extra entries!!!

Have fun....you know I would...LOL

Smiles,
Kelly

  1. I always love a good laugh too!! You could ask for a "most embarassing" moment that could get a few laughs ... or some other laughable moment ??? I don't have any other ideas, but I have lots of embarassing moments : )

  2. AmI the first to comment?
I don't have no idea, it is to soon for me to think (I can take the hair dryer in the shower!!!) but I know I'll like to have a fabric cutter.
    this is very exciting!
    thank you!

  3. how about telling the "horror" stories of family members using your "good" scissors for cutting up coca cola cans for their art project???

    or, your worst sewing adventure.

    ReplyDelete
  4. well, you want something short and sweet, terribly funny, and highly creative. My idea is a limerick, truncated. Here would be the guidelines: a five-line humorous poem with a characteristic rhythm. Lines one, two, and five rhyme with each other, and lines three and four rhyme with each other.

    I'm ready for some fun!

    ReplyDelete
  5. or we could write a poem about our love for the GO and IHAN.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I have a great idea. How about you give it to the FIRST MALE Quilter from Alabama that comments on THIS post?

    Signed,
Gene, A male quilter from Alabama.

    ReplyDelete
  7. We could have to show our sewing/stash area...as is. No clean up allowed. This would prove how much we NEED the Accu-Go....the time saved would help us go through our stashes faster.

  8. Promise not drinking coffee and not eating chocolate until the end of the giveaway would be enough?? Given that I'm a chocolate-caffeine addicted, it would be a big sacrifice. By the way, when does this giveaway end?? To be serious, I think that would be great to create, with the AccuQuilt help, at least a couple of small quilts to donate to a children ward of an hospital chosen by the winner. Most of us has kids and knows what it is heartbreaking to see children suffer. A small colored quilt could bring them a smile.
    Have a great weekend.

  9. Hi Kelly, seeing as you like funny videos on youtube a lot, why not ask people to post a link to their favourite funny video? Then we can all have a good laugh at all their favourite videos too!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I think you should have everyone post a picture of the ugliest fabric they have in their stash!

    ReplyDelete
  11. How about an alternate acronymn for IHAN? Sometimes those are fun when playing Balderdash.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I can't think of anything fun or unusual but I think this is a fabulous giveaway!! Maybe you could have people post the different ways they cut out the circles now. Not too exciting or fun but it's an idea!

    ReplyDelete
  13. How about 'What shape would you like to cut with your new fabric cutter?'

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'd go for the limerick - or definitions for IHAN.

But I'd *still* like to just say "here's my comment, now draw my name."

    A female quilter from Illinois.

Oh, I remember those contortionists - My fave comment to that one was someone who said, "how lucky - that's my morning routine!".....*L*

    ReplyDelete
  15. It might be fun to have people post their best "sewing picture"...

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'm not a poet, and can't think of anything funny that would be short and easy but I do like using the IHAN letters and coming up with a fun phrase. ;-) You are so sweet to host another wonderful giveaway! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  17. How about a a humorous mini comic of a quilter?

    ReplyDelete
  18. well since it's a giveaway for a Go Cutter - it needs to be about something involving cutting...

everyone has a story of when they cut themselves, or the kids got a hold of their cutters... or... how about everyone tell about a time they were a kid and sneaked their mom's scissors... what did they use them for? or why did they feel that they just had to have moms?

for me - it loved sneaking outside with a pair of scissors so I could use them on the scrubs around on the front side of the house and pretend I was giving them haircuts... you know - playing barber shop! I even gave the largest one by the front door a Mohawk. ;)

just the first idea off the top of my head....

Happy Weekend! Love from Texas! ~bonnie

    ReplyDelete
  19. I am, of course, clueless, but I like Emma's idea or the Alabama guy's idea...except make it for the first post from Cambria,Ca :-)
Even if I don't win, I just like coming to your blog to see the lime green banner. Simple pleasures, I know...
    Have a great weekend!

  20. So many good ideas so far. I like the idea of posting pics of our sewing area/stash.

I like to read other people's horror stories about gift giving or creating or anything really lol.

The poems are fun too but I don't always feel inspired to rhyme.

We could all make a small project to show off like potholders or our current quilt, etc.

I'm sure you will come up with something great ;)

    ReplyDelete
  21. We all have fabric stashes and it is always a hoot to see how much everyone has and what they hoard so how about a picture posted of everyone's fabric collection.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I like the idea of what shape you would use most, if we had one. Or what is the dumbest thing you did when quilting, which would encompass most of my quilting activities, haha.

    Debbie

    ReplyDelete
  23. You could have people tell a story of their most embarassing sewing mistake .............like sewing the leg off of your daughters sweat pants with a new serger, when you need her to wear them to Grandma's house since she bought the fabric and you had bragged about the sooo cute outfit. I do have a viable excuse, they were a size 3 month (really little), the serger was brand new, and I had drank way too much coffee that morning???

Keep up the great work with the blog and thanks for all the great giveaways!
    Kelley O

  24. I haven't read any of the other comments, on purpose, so that I wouldn't be influenced by others' ideas. :)

How about, we post a photo on our own blog (and link to it) showing us using an "unusual" cutting tool to cut fabric.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I believe you should ask for the person who has never finished a quilt, but wants to...me!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I can only PRAY that you will pick me!! How about "Funniest Blog Post" submissions?? You could draw from Past posts and/or New posts which mention the giveaway. Great traffic driver for all of us:)
    Happy Saturday!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I like the picture of our sewing rooms....confession time!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well Kelly, you certainly have a lot of wonderful suggestions here. As I really don't have any funny stories, and poetry is a little out of my range, I was thinking that maybe we could GO GREEN and share something that has been repurposed.

    ReplyDelete
  29. the silliest mistake made while making a quilt, garment, or any type of fabric item.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think that you ought to have entries reflect cutting boo-boos, given that the Go Fabric Cutter cuts things nice and accurately.

How about the worst cutting error you made (perhape either one you had to admit to publicly or one that created a huge problem for you (e.g., you cut 150 squares a half inch too small and you can't get more of that fabric).

I also like the limerick idea that somebody mentioned above and would add that it has to relate to fabric cutting disasters. Maybe expand the options to include a 4-8 line rhyming poem for those who have trouble with limericks.

    Brenda

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ask everyone to share what, other than fabric, that they're always buying even though they don't need it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. How about showing our ugliest UFO?? Or worse yet...ugliest or "whompiest" finished fabric project??!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Have entrants write a haiku on the cutter or how they would use it!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well, I think that since this is the 2nd of these that have been so generously given away, we should be giving something away as well to win. Be it an awsome bag we sewed at a babyshower, or an egg to a neighbor, or a piece of our precious chocolate stash to our children... I say, spread the love, pay it forward!!!!!

  35. I was tottaly going to say quilting sissor horror stories but someone mentioned that one! Does it count if two people share?

Another idea would be to share one project at some random point of progress that the cutter would help move along the work in progress line

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hymm. I may have already sent suggestions in an email, so do I get double points?

How about everyone recommending what AccuQuilt GO! dies you should add to your IHAN store?

What about sending you some Tim Tams?

Could we provide photos of our scraps that we want to cut with this AccuQuilt GO!

Or you could make it simple, by just selecting me. After all, you know how much I love AccuQuilt!

    SewCalGal

    ReplyDelete
  37. I know I would love to win one. I couldn't afford to buy one but would love to try to win one. I guess maybe how you would put it to use-for yourself, charity quilts, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  38. What about asking what other things you could cut with the AccuQuilt. You had mentioned bread in an earlier post Did you ever try it???

    ReplyDelete
  39. How fun to read all these creative ideas! I like the limerick idea, would never show my sewing room on the Internet, would be willing to find a funny video...

but really, the best way to get a lot of commenters is just to announce it and see who comes. Many would like to win one of these babies.

    ReplyDelete
  40. More ideas...do I get more points? LOL!

What about giving a demo in the classrooms of the Jr. IHAN employees and asking them for feedback? My thought here is to help teach other kids about "engineering" principles, in the context of how the AccuQuilt works. After all, these are designers of the future. And, they may have some creative and inspiring ideas for a giveaway (there has to be a few marketeers in the classroom too). I'd certainly get a kick of seeing how these kids respond to the business concept of design and marketing of the AccuQuilt GO!

  41. Hopefully this is my last idea of the night. No need to award extra points:

Have a meeting with all IHAN employees. Collect ideas for giveaways and let your followers vote on the best idea.

  42. I like the idea of a funny story. Some of us (like me) are pretty challenged when it comes to posting photos or linking to utube and the like. A funny story with scissors, a funny story about cutting out pieces for a quilt, a story about the first quilt we ever made?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't like the idea of photos or links to things because some of us are challenged in those areas (like me). I like stories - a story about scissors, a story about our first quilt, a story about cutting pieces for a quilt...

This may be my second post - I think the other one just disappeared, but if not - I'm really not trying to get counted twice :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. How about pics of their worst block ever?? This would show a need for the exact cutting that you can get from the GO!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hmmm how badly to people want this machine? Would they be willing to “jump through a hoop” for it? Yep, I would have them post a picture of themselves literally jumping through a hoop. Better yet post it to a flickr site. This is such an amazing giveaway; we need to work for the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  46. What a fab giveaway prize and I would love to win one Kelly. I reckon what would probably give alot of laughs would be to have people give a comment on a picture of something that is rather outlandish. The best comment would be the one that scores the most laughs. Hugs Vicki

    ReplyDelete
  47. i think i have a great idea!
how about this: in order to enter the contest, each person must make a post with pictures in thier blog about the most terrible thing that they made, trying to complete a project.{if they dont have a blog, must send you an email} i think many of us tryed to make a soft toy or something to wear and when we were done it lookd totaly awful. and then each person makes a comment with a link to their post. and you pick a winner.
or take the same idea and just have everyone just write a comment about it here, in your giveaway post. and then you can leave random.org incharge of picking a winner.
    what do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh pick me! pick me!! How about funny /annoying stories about cutting mistakes because we'd didn't have an accuquilt cutter. You know the ones I mean... You end up driving for miles to get new fabric because of the mistakes!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I too was thinking a funny poem....but since someone else said that, I need to think of something else to get the 10 extra points. I think we should draw and submit a picture of us using our "Go Cutter by Accuquilt". Gene excluded since he's an artist. haha

    ReplyDelete
  50. You have some great ideas, here, I'd sure vote for a few! (isn't Gene's idea cute?)
What if we shared a post of the fabrics we would use in using the cutter, and the finished project?

    ReplyDelete
  51. i think sharing ideas is always nice for a newbie like me to read, but not sure what a newbie like me would suggest, hmmmmmmm?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Hi Kelly,
I didn't read through the comments, so maybe this has already been mentioned? I think you should show us the types of shapes one can cut with the Go-Fabric Cutter. Oh and the measurements of the shapes also. We, then have to make something with those shapes and send a picture to you to post. If you didn't want to pick or your co-workers were too busy to choose, you could have us all vote on the winner, although I may get caught voting for mine more than once! Mmmm, or I guess you could just give it to Gene?!

    ReplyDelete
  53. You're giving away another Go Cutter??? You really are a wild and crazy girl, aren't you?

I think we should have a big quilt-a-thon! All participants have to quilt without stopping. If you stop you are disqualified. The last remaining quilter gets the Go Cutter! What fun!

    ReplyDelete
  54. One of the things I've found is that most winners of giveaways have blogs. For those of us who don't, it would be nice to see a non-blogger win. You've generated a lot of interest with some crazy ideas.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think you should have everybody post pictures of their first quilt.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Ok, I have 2 ideas but didn't read all the comments so I don't know if anyone else came up with the same ones or not but here goes:
1-Have the contest be a trick. Like anyone that posted here could be the winner using the RNG.
    OR
2-Have a bloggy scavanger hunt. You know, a list of blogs (maybe sponser blogs or friends or ones you enjoy visiting) and we would have to leave a comment or bring you back something you gave clues to. I bet your sponsors could take a pic with some specific item in it and I bet others would be willing to help do something like that too.
    Hope this helps!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I am all for the telling of a funny cutting story since this is for a machine that will acurately cut the fabric for you.

    ReplyDelete
  58. ooohh, I think we should all post pics on our blog of things our husbands have made! that would be way fun!

    ReplyDelete
  59. OH, another great give away, Kelly!

there are so many great ideas here already....

How about something that involves your store? You give clues, and we have to find that item.... you can set the comments to "approve all" so that they don't show and we can't cheat.
Kind of like a scavenger hunt?

    SheilaC

  60. Poetry contest?
    Haiku contest?
What silly thing will you do in public to win (picture mandatory!)? (But please, no video contest!)

    ReplyDelete
  61. I am going to suggest a limerick...
Here is an example of one..of course no one could use this, but they are fun to write:
    There once was a fabric cutter by Accu Quilt;
    That was the best machine that was ever built;
It could cut with such ease,
    Do anything you please,
You can't lose with the Accu Quilt Cutter.

You get the idea...they are loads of fun to write.
    Micki

    ReplyDelete
  62. How have you cut yourself previously that would indicate that your using a sharp object is hazardous to your health?

    ReplyDelete
  63. How about having the winner be someone who will actually admit being a fan of Will Robinson and Lost in Space?

    ReplyDelete
  64. How about the worst quilt project we ever started. Did it ever get done and if not will it? Seems like we all have one of those that make us shudder just thinking about it.

    ReplyDelete
  65. what about:

FIRSTS: FIRST QUILT MADE; FIRST FAVORITE QUILT PATTERN; FIRST QUILT BOOK; FIRST QUILT MAGAZINE; FIRST QUILT MENTOR

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hello, well there has been some brilliant suggestions so far. I would suggest a comment about horror stories with your children cutting there hair, I remember my youngest who was about 3 was very quite, went into her room and found she had hardly any hair left and we were due to go to a school event!!!! Now owning one of these cutters would make up for that day and the months after with a child with weird hair.
    Happy days.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Have everyone comment with something specific they have done that no one else has done (or that they think no one else has done). The person who has done something no one else has done wins, or a random drawing for those people if multiple. This can be hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Well, I'm not a quilter (Gasp! I know!). I mean, I have plans to make a few, because I never seem to have enough blankets, and you know, quilts, made by people, are just amazing. But, it still stands that I'm not a quilter. Don't burn me at the stake y'all! I am, however, a long time reader of IHAN. Notions are a sewers' best friend!

Anywho, I'd have us wanters of said Go Cutter cut out some shapes, yes, by hand, that the Go Cutter would do for us (and much, much better at that) and have us make something sweet, ridiculous, funny, or purposely bad. Laughter, enjoyment, and the Go Cutter go hand in hand, no?

    ReplyDelete
  69. I would like to hear funny "quilting stories" from other quilters - that always brightens up one's day!
    Teri Dingler

    ReplyDelete
  70. I think a good idea would be for crafters to post a funny picture of their funnies quirky working habit that they may have when working on a project/quilt :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. How about everyone telling about their worst quilting mistakes, be it cutting, sewing or quilting and a picture of what the end result looks like. These will be a hoot.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Have everyone tell about the first big boo-boo they made with a rotary cutter. I am sure most of us goofed at least once. Thanks for having a giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I like the idea of sewing room pictures, perhaps the most quirky could win. Or the person with the most UFOs? But I would love to see some sewing room pictures.

It might be very embarrassing to have to line up all our notions because I am addicted to buying notions. I would hate to show you my needles, scissors and pins. heh heh

    ReplyDelete
  78. how about a picture of a sewing disaster or a story of their sewing disaster and what they did to fix it, like rip it out or throw it away.... My seam ripper is my best friend, we hold hands all the time......

or their favorite sewing tool or person they sew for or their favorite charity.... I could go on and on and on.....

  79. How about parenting moments? You know, those moments when we wish we weren't a parent.

    ReplyDelete
  80. How about how you cut out the fabric backwards and the acuquilt cutter would have helped you not to make the mistake. I have done that and no more fabric to go to the stash to find either Then you have to supplement something you really cant or do not want to use. I have also cut the piece to small and no more to make what I want to do to finish my project. Then by now the fabric is out of circulation.Ugh I'm really in a hole.Debbie Kelly
