Spring Quilt Market 2010 - Fresh Cut Quilts Pattern Co.

I know, I know, I'm leaving for Houston a week from tomorrow and I'm still posting about Spring Quilt Market.  I've got to clear out my files to make room for new Fall Market Reviews.

I remember meeting Kari Ramsay from the Fresh Cut Quilts Pattern Company.  She was full of energy and excitement and her booth really radiated that great  energy.  Funny how photos take me right back to the moment and I can recall almost everything that we said and how great I felt being in Kari's presence.  She had just got the fabric cards for her fabric line with Henry Glass called Tidbits to go along with her new book, TidBits from Triangles.  (click on Henry Glass link and on the sidebar click on Kari Ramsay /Tidbits to see the fabrics up close)

Kari's booth just emanated fun energy.  I loved the re-assignment given to the old records, very cool idea.
As you can see Kari has many patterns she has designed.  I only wish I could have that sort of creative freedom in my mind.  What a gift, don't you think?
This quilt was more beautiful in person than in this photo.  I'd love to have a fun quilt just like that one ....guess I better get busy....I mean busier!!!

Jolly Stockings is a block of the month pattern that comes complete with full size templates.  This has to be the most fun Christmas Quilt Pattern I've ever seen.  It is playful but not too whimsical....(oh geez...guess I better take some classes in description for critics....it is like describing a fine wine....I have no clue...just using my own verbiage here!)
This is the quilt on the front cover of TidBits from Triangles.  So often we buy the pre-cut fabrics because they are pretty and fun but then we put them on our shelves to look at.  Kari's patterns make it easy/easier to use up your pre-cuts because they use Fat Quarters, 10" Layer Cake Squares, 5" Charm Squares and 6" Squares or Tunovers.  Now that should certainly give you some more reasons to open them up and actually make something with them.  After all......that is what it's for....sewing with!  LOL....I think we are all a little guilty of not wanting to cut or use our favorite fabrics.  I have to turn myself in and say that I've decided to use my fabrics no matter how beautiful.....because that is why I bought them....not to collect or admire them....but to actually make something I can enjoy.  Geez...I'm sooo guilty here.
You know this jumped off the table and into my eyes.  My love of pin keeps would not permit me to avoid this fun creation.  And with a closer look....guess what else was there to adorn that precious pin keep?

YUP, sure enough....those embellished wonderments, Just Pins, made by Just Another Button Company.  Well that is all it takes to get my attention.  Did I mention there was a long line of millionaire men, nude, with "we love IHAN" signs standing all over the place....I never noticed them until someone pointed them out....why?  Because I could not take my eyes off pin keeps and embellished wonderments!!! (slight exaggeration)

This is Kari holding her new (was then!!) book and she autographed it....and you know what that means don't you?  Yes indeed, to be given away here on the IHAN blog.  So if you would like to be the lucky new owner of TidBits from Triangles all you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me why you want the book.  I have not decided yet weather to use the random number generator....or to choose a comment myself.....I guess I'll just wait and decide later.....I guess it can be a blog writers prerogative to not decide!!!

If you are not sure if you are a no-reply blogger, leave your e-mail address otherwise I won't know how to tell you that you won!

Smiles,
Kelly

  3. HST?? I love HST!! And I do not presently have a book that uses Layer Cakes and turnovers. So this book would be put to very good use, because I have TWO turnover packs, and 5" charms that my sweet daughter gave me. Would love to find an incredible pattern to use them up (stash manicuring???) Thanks as always Kelly for the fun tour or market and the great giveaways :-)

  14. Did someone say millionaire men, nude?? Those are my three favorite words to combine in a sentence! Kelly, I will pay all your expenses to the quilt market if you bring me with and point me in the right direction....oops, hot flash.
In the meantime, put my name in the hat to win!

  16. Someone has to be 4th....grin. How creative is right! I wished I had my own ideas, but I can certainly take advantage of someone elses.

I can't quite remember how I found Fresh Cuts, but I bought that Christmas Tidings pattern and would love to have her book. I probably like it for the same reasons you do....It's "Fresh" and I like to "Cut" for "Quilts"

    Grinning.....Billie

  17. Hello:

I would love to win this book because I'm a new quilter, and I'm still learning. Using precuts has been helpful but I need ideas for my next project. Thank you for the chance to win.

  18. I know you didn't say there was a vote, but I vote that you use the random number thingie. I'm too busy with all the naked millionaire men in my studio today to think of something win-worthy. Thx.

  19. Everyone has to start somewhere!! Right now I have a rather humble stash of fabric... 80% has been either gifted to me by my grandmother, or I won in a giveaway!

I still haven't had the courage to make a "big girl" quilt and use my precious fabric... But after reading your post, I would LOVE to take some of those charm packs and 1/4yard cuts and make a REAL quilt! What better excuse than to get a new book, and take one of her awesome patterns and make something? I can break through my nervousness, and break into my stash!

  20. It would be great to have a book that helped use up my horded layer cakes and charm squares! Thanks for giving us the chance to win one. Sharonj.

You are leaving in a week? Hummmm I have the opportunity to say here longer....you make it tempting to come over and meet you.....you are such a temptress...

  22. Oh how fun! I would have been totally bedazzled by all the lovelies at the Market~ and you get to do it all again!! I have quite a collection of HST's from cut-off corners etc and I would love some new ideas for them. This book has me written all over it! LOL Thank you for the chance Kelly!

  23. I want to win the book because all I read is quilt-related! And my poor pile beside my bed needs a new friend! I love little pieces, triangles especially!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well, I have no real good reason for wanting to win this book other than I think that I am addicted to great pattern books even more than I am to fabric.(if that is possible???):)

I have made a project from a Fresh Cuts pattern (Table Gifts Table runner) and the instructions were super easy to follow and the end result is beautiful!!

    So....my fingers are crossed....

    BTW....luv ur blog!! XOXOXO

    Rene

  25. Enjoying the tour and your highlighting this designer! I'm always up for something NEW and FRESH. Her quilts look like a breath of fresh air in the quilt world! Much needed!

  26. TidBits from Triangles - I would love the book. Great giveaway. And, I love the pincushion! Happy quilting.

  27. I would like the book because I am terrified of trying triangles. I attempted a flying geese pattern and they appeared to be quite embibed by the curvature that I put in the rows - I tend to nip the points when I sew and they no longer look like triangles - sigh.
Love the photos and shame shame for showing me those pins - oh those lovely pins - I thought I only felt that way about buttons but now I have been bitten by pins of all things! Loved the photos.

  28. Kelly, I would love to win Kari's book. I have been admiring those pre-cut fabrics for quite awhile but haven't bought any because I wasn't sure how to use them. This could be a whole new adventure in quilting! Thanks

  29. I want this book because the patterns look great, colourful and fun and I need some patterns that will help me use my precuts that I never use. And because it's signed, and because it has a cool name...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh my goodness, I was just laughing at myself today because I have been ITCHING to make something with triangles. That is SO NOT like me. I just don't know what has come over me but if I could just win that book, maybe I could be cured! Please help me with my malady. Purty purty please!

  31. I would love to win the TidBits from Triangles book that is autographed by Kari Ramsey because I have these precuts sitting on my shelf that need and want to be made into something wonderful. And Kelly says this is just the ticket to accomplish my goal. And we ALL know that Kelly always tells the truth!

  32. I am new to quilting and blogging. I have always been a lover of fabrics. I think I got it from my grandmother. She was a fabulous seamstress. She passed her talent to my mom and to me. She made the most amazing dress to wear to my wedding, and that is how I remember her. When she passed away, my mom packed up all her fabric (the only thing NO ONE else wanted) and she brought it to me, knowing I would treasure it always. I have just begun to quilt and use my grandmother's fabric whenever I can. Unfortunately, I do not have many patterns. I would love the book for inspiration. Thanks for the chance to win the giveaway.

  50. I've never made anything triangular, mostly 'cuz I don't know how! I'm SURE this book would teach me everything I need to know and inspire me like all get out. I just LOOOOOOVE that pin keep - pink & green are my absolute FAVORITEs, and those darlin' little pins!! OIKS! Oh, the men? You can keep 'em - RV is limited on space, and I'd rather have fabric.

I cannot WAIT to see what you bring back from Houston Quilt Market!!!! You sure you don't need a helper??? I'm not far off, ya know....and I don't eat much, either. Just sayin. Oh, and I'll bring chocolate!

  51. I have sooooo many HST already made. Never mind that they are all under two inches in size! When I trim triangles off of blocks, I set them aside my machine and sew them together as leaders-enders. I need some ideas how to use them, hence, I would love the book!

I'll carry your bags, run for coffee & snacks, get you food, anything your heart desires, even distract the scissors man so you can get a little "closer to the merchandise". {wink-wink} But if I can't go I'd love to settle for the book. I need some patterns for my ever growing collection of charm squares. And I can't wait to see what you bring home!!!
