I didn't notice the other side of the chalk board was a dry erase board....imagine my shock when I drove by and saw this today:
WHAT? Flamingos Quilting.....Now your talking!!!! Oh yeah....new friends to stitch with :) I must say the teacher wasn't the friendliest either. While I was visiting I heard her yell at one of the students. Apparently there was one student who had brought some electronic toy to class. School is no place for electronics...I don't allow my boys to take any so I completely understood....until....
I spotted this....now I get it....this Flamingo is an "advanced" Flamingo and wasn't interested in learning to piece....it skipped the piecing and went directly for the Free Motion Quilting and was watching Patsy Thompson's Fast and Free DVD. I had not idea there were intellectually advanced Flamingos...perhaps they are a new breed?
I was Over the
Their classes started simple...they made a babushka and some scarves. Didn't they do a lovely job?
I inquired as to where they had gotten all that beautiful fabric for scarves and I was told Hoffman Fabrics. I said really? What a coincidence....I was just at Hoffman Fabrics on a recent trip to Southern California.
I'm going back tomorrow to speak to the head mistress and see if I can get some of those beautiful Hoffman Fabrics to give away on my blog. Wish me luck!
Oh...and for those of you who doubt Barnie Fife lives near me.....I took a photo of his police car yesterday. Here's my proof!
Smiles,
Kelly
Too cute!

Wow... you should snatch that Featherweight from those silly flamingos. That is one sweet machine!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope those flamingos treat that Featherweight nicely! Sew cute! I love those flamingos! Barney's car is great, too!
ReplyDeleteYou sure have one really fun neighborhood!!! :*)
ReplyDeleteYou sure live in a wacky neighborhood. Thanks for the address to the flamingo fan club. Maybe you can get them to start their own blog.

As a rule, quilters are a very honest bunch, but I don't think I would trust these birds after that last stunt! Maybe they weren't really stealing fabric and it was just a cry for someone to teach them to quilt?
ReplyDeleteI'm telling you, these flamingos are so with it. How can they be so much more advanced then our own Florida variety!! It must be the Ohio air.
ReplyDeleteHahaha--such smart flamingos. Please tell Barney Fife hi from me! :) Thanks for making me smile!
ReplyDeleteThe flamingo antics are so fun! It's about time they learned to quilt. Thanks for the fan club address. I must send some mail to let them know their antics are enjoyed all the way to California.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great posting!! I love the story of your flamingo's!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with trying to get some of those beautiful Hoffman Fabrics!
ReplyDeleteReminded me of my mother telling me that I needed to hand stitch my quilt pieces before I could use the sewing machine. A 9-patch bear claw that I cut from a template (with scissors) hand stitched, and hand quilter took me a YEAR!! C'mon Flamingo Instructor, life is short, let us use the electronic thing!!
ReplyDeleteWow....Barney Fife AND industrious flamingos. Your neighborhood is sure more exciting than mine!
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh how funny, I guess you've made friends with the flamingos. I love Barney's car it's a beaut.
ReplyDeleteNow that is my kinda quilt school. How fun to create with beautiful Hoffman Fabrics and have cute Flamingos in your class too. Delightful.

I love the Flamingos! They would bring fun to any quilting class. You bring them to life. Thanks for sharing. I am using some Hoffman California Fabric right now called "Painted Desert". Must be really old. It is from my Mother's stash. She has been quilting with the quilting group on high for almost 10 years now.

Too cute! I enjoy seeing what the flamingos are up to and I really like Barney's car. Thank you for making me smile. š
ReplyDeletethose are some talented flamingos. lol
ReplyDeleteThose flamingos want to improve their sewing skills!
ReplyDeleteI always believe what you write, especially about flamingos though how they stay pink at your house is a puzzlement. The pink comes from all those little shrimp they eat - do you feed them shrimp each day???
ReplyDeleteI hadn't even read what you had wrote under the picture of the cop car and I was thinking about Barney. How funny is that. I love watching reruns of Andy Griffith. Don't let those flamingos run away with the Featherweight.
ReplyDeleteHmph! Imagine that - I've heard of a school of fish, but I always thought they were a FLOCK of flamingoes...oh, wait, they were flocking 'round the head mistress, learning how to sew! They better watch out they don't get their feathers flustered, or they'll find themselves in stitches!
ReplyDeleteThey've got good taste tho, picking out such pretty fabrics! (they may have good taste, but I dunno if they taste good - I've never eaten one - they're too pretty, I'd rather just look!)
Thanks for sharing the fun with us! Hope you're feeling mucho better these days!!!
What an adorable post! Love the 'Back to school' and the Barney fife car!! thanks for the grins!
ReplyDeleteHehehehehe. I would love to take that class with them. I'm sure it is a flock of fun.
