Ricky Tims' "Oodles of Doodles" at Spring Quilt Market 2010

I think the photo problem is fixed!  Thanks for your patience.

Red Rooster Fabrics hosted Ricky Tims for a Schoolhouse presentation at Spring Quilt Market 2010
(Music for this presentation provided by MC Hammer thanks to IHAN's creative staff?)

You know IHAN was not going to miss this presentation!! I can't say I got the best photographs but I did have a great time and enjoyed hearing Ricky Tims speak.

Oodles of Doodles is Ricky's new fabric line with Red Rooster Fabrics.  It will be in stores by September/October 2010.  "Circles spinning with bands of color that swirl and twirl create the ultimate in contemporary design!" is the description I copied from Red Roosters Site.  I think I would have called it, "Way too much fun" and  the song "Can't Touch This" would be playing in the background. - IHAN's creative staff managed to add it just for this post....cuz.....I felt like it :)
Can you tell IHAN really, really, really likes this fabric?  I love the energy....and it does not even have caffeine or sugar....so just the effects without the shock to my internal organs....just the beauty in my eyes.  I bet if you hooked me up to one of those brain scans my pleasure centers would go bonkers when these fabrics were shown to me.  What about you?  No, then close your eyes and those who say Yes....DEFINITELY YES....keep reading :)

Obviously I did not get to meet Ricky while he was giving his presentation for Schoolhouse.  The next day I was able to meet him at the American Quilter's Society booth.  I know why Alex Anderson likes him now.....he seems to have a kind, gentle, creative, fun-loving and sincere spirit.  He posed for a photo with me but since I don't know how to Photoshop the pix I'm not posting it today.  I look like Casper and I'm having one of those days (you know what I mean).

Ricky gave everyone who attended his Schoolhouse presentation a kit to make the wall hanging that is pictured above.  How cool is that!!!  Extremely cool indeed :)  I know the gift was intended to be used by folks to make Samplers for their shops.  Since IHAN is virtual.....and I already posted a photo of it (above) then why not pass this lovely gift alone to one very lucky IHAN blog reader right?  RIGHT!!
All you have to do to win this "Oodles of Doodles" Wall Quilt Kit is leave a comment on this post and tell me where you will hang it or who you will give it to.  Easy enough?  Make sure you leave your e-mail address if you are going to leave an anonymous comment or you are a no-reply blogger.  This giveaway will end on Friday July 2, 2010 at Midnight.

Smiles, Kelly

  3. Kelly there is a problem with pictures displaying on my end. (don't publish this!)
It is showing that the pictures are "http://localhost:63575/670c6a18767f07b353959885d41ea003/image/1ce639a3f3713ee2.jpg" That "localhost" can't be right for anyone to see it. Just thought you would want to know.

  4. Even though I can't currently see the image, I would hang it in my quilting area for inspiration. I am a big Ricky Tims fan.
However, if it came out totally AWESOME I just might hang it in my cubicle at work to show it off.

  6. Your photos are working for some reason. But I searched for the fabric and I love it. But until I see the quilt I can't tell you where I would hang it but I would love to enter.

  11. One of my friends in our small quilt bee (we've been meeting for 12 yrs. now) told us all about Ricky Tims a long time ago and his being the singing quilting cowboy! He and Alex demo on the GO is what made me want one! I can't see the pics yet until Gene fixes them for you, but would definitely show off the wall hanging to the gals in bee, and then proudly hang it in my livingroom. Thanks for sharing this with one of us lucky winners!

  12. A quilter friend in our bee (12 yrs. we've been meeting) told all of us about Ricky Tims a long time ago and that he was the singing, quilting cowboy. Ricky and Alex demo video of the GO cutter is what convinced me I had to have one, and entered Bejeweled Barb's blog contest. Thanks for your support. I can't see the pics until Gene fixes them for you, but would definitely show the gals at bee and then proudly hang it in my "show off" place in my livingroom.

  19. OMG, I love that fabric it's everything you said, or copied, and more. I would hang it in my den and try not to give it away. I seem to do that when people admire my stuff.

  20. The fabric is beautiful. I'll have to give the wall hanging to my DD. This is exactly what she would choose in a fabric store.

  21. I don't know for sure who I would give it to, but it would definately be someone who loves color. Beautiful!

  24. I absolutely love those bright fabrics! I'm about to move to a new apartment so I'd hang it in my new sewing room to give me inspiration. It is just gorgeous.

  25. I love Ricky Tims! I first met him at Bernina University and I am so glad that I bought his CD of his history/music life. It is amazing. And I have made Harmonic Convergence-I was so pleased with how it came out and how easy his directions were. I think that a new wallhanging is in order for my family room-there could be "dueling Ricky Tims" going on here.
The fabrics are amazing. I thought I was thrilled with his hand-dyes, but these are mind-blowing.
p.s. Love the music that goes with the post.

  26. Hmmmm....where would I hang it, or who would I give it to? Haha, the thought I'd give that away is hysterical....sooooo, where would I hang it? Well, we are under contract to buy a new home (hey, we're doing our part to help the economy!), so I'd probably hang it in our new living room, right over our new sofa, for everyone to see. Either that, or I would give it to the Disabled Veterans Women's Auxilliary to give to a disabled vet or his widow. Please leave word of my winning at kcallander989@gmail.com :) THANKS!!!

  27. I thought the photo issue was on my side. Thanks for fixing it for me!

Great post. Love your insights on Quilt Market. And I love this giveaway, but not exactly "certain" what to do with it. Love to try the block that Ricky has created. Absolutely beautiful. He has such a great eye for color and design. Lucky you for having a chance to be there for this presentation. And thank you for sharing your insights!

  28. First of all, I LOVE that fabric. Gorgeous colors. Second of all, I love Ricky. He came to our guild and talked and played the piano. I was hooked! I think I would have to keep that purty wallhanging and put it in my front hall which is painted a pale spring green.

  29. I love the fabrics. If I have to choose a place for the wallhanging it would probably be my daughter's room, she would love those colors.
