Reliable V100 Digital Steam Velocity GIVEAWAY

Day 8 IHAN Anniversary Celebration Giveaway

How well do you really know yourself?
What is your vision of Perfect Steam?

This is good steam..it works....but it is a little loud and might ruin your ironing board.

This is also good steam....very good steam :)

Mr. Steamy McDreamy!!!

Now that I've introduced you to a few varieties of steam, I ask you.....which would you rather have?  (Keep in mind that Steamy McDreamy is not available!!!)

My preferred and available (which is very important) preference for an excellent source of steam is my  V100 Digital Velocity Iron by Reliable

Oops did I say "my"?  This is Rick's Digital Velocity V100 iron....not mine.  As you can see, he gives it two thumbs up.  Rick (my McDreamy) has complained for years about our irons not getting wrinkles out and water leaking all over his shirts.  He has not complained once (100% truth) since he got the V100 Digital Velocity Iron.  An iron that doesn't leak.....is a modern miracle.

It has two heating elements and a micro-pump that ensures a continuous flow of steam, even on low temperature, and with no spitting or leaking.  Here are the other great features of this iron:
• 30g/m of continuous steam

• 8 minute auto shut-off
• Steam Ready (bypasses auto shut off)
• 1800W heating element
• 30g/m of powerful continuous steam
• 1.8 cups (430 ml) water capacity

Steam Ready allows the user to iron continuously without the auto shut off feature. When activated, the iron will not shut off, unless manually turned off by the user.

Save water with the Eco-Intelligent feature. When the iron is picked up, the iron starts to steam immediately. Place the iron down and after 3 seconds it stops.

The V100 has received the coveted Woolmark Approved status, confirming it’s safe use on all types of delicate wool fabric.

Since it is illegal (I guess) to giveaway Mr. Dreamy McSteamy

Reliable Corporation is doing one better....they are giving away a V100 Digital Velocity Iron to one extremely lucky IHAN blog reader (including shipping).

THANK YOU Reliable!!!!

To be entered into this drawing you need to leave a comment telling us what you think the V100 will do to improve your stitching and quilting projects. Give us all the Steamy McDreamy details....not just..." it will take the wrinkles out"....that is already guaranteed :)

For extra entries, send us photos depicting why you need the V100 Digital Velocity Iron to IWantToWinAtIHAN@yahoo.com

  1. Good Morning IHAN, this iron does look like an excellent one and especially with the high recommendations. What could be better than getting wrinkles out? I suppose pressing unruly seams flat without ironing them all out of shape would be quite useful...less squaring up wonky shaped blocks. But really getting wrinkles out of fabric that has been folded too long...that is BIG in my room! I hope I win :-)

  2. I'd love to win this new iron. It looks like just the key to great pressing. I just bought a new iron and it's already leaking.

  3. Boy could I use a great iron!! I think I have tried half the ones on the market with not much luck! They either did not get hot enough or leaked. I even bought a fancy one with the water holder separate. Worked for awhile but then would not steam at all!

I do a lot of quilting and need a good iron that works for more than a few months.

  4. Oh the iron dreams are made of, one that gets hot fast! One that steams a lot! one that does not leak, super!! But as a quilter I love the option of not using the suto shut off, when I quilt, I sew a little, then iron, I do not like to have to tip my iron every 5 minutes to make sure it is on, what a super plus! thank you for the chance.

  5. Wow!! How super fantastic!! I think the V100 would help improve my stitching by keeping my blood pressure in check!! My current iron shuts off between pressings and I have to turn it back on....I do this by slamming it on the ironing board and then continue to shake the silly thing to get the light to go from blinking (standby) to solid (ready to use). And when it doesn't cooperate, I get to slam it again!

Thanks to IHAN and Reliable for the wonderful giveaway!!

  6. Okay! I would like this iron because: I hate filling my current little beast of an iron up every 5 minutes! It is such a pain. The larger water holding capacity of this new iron and greater steam action sounds glorious to me! Thanks Sharonj.

  7. Great giveaway! I think that iron would sure help with the applique I am working on! Love McDreamy!!!!

  8. with this iron, I would make perfect quilts! Since my Rowenta died two years ago, I've been searching for the perfect steam iron that heats well, steams when I need it, and doesn't leak. Yours sounds like just the ticket!

  9. I wrote about this iron for a magazine once - unfortunately the magazine owner chose not to feature it. I'd love to own one of these and have been praying that my current iron will just die or leak or something. I'm sure it will - the brand I have now always does. I'd just love to win a Reliable!!

  10. I would love an iron that blasts out the steam with such force that no wrinkle stands a chance and those unruly bulky seams just lay down and cower. Thanks! Stephanie in Michigan

  11. I would love to win a Reliable Steam iron because I seriously need to cut my pressing time for my quilting and mending down, plus there is all the daily pressing as well. I'm also looking for a new job, so looking professionally pressed without the expense of a dry cleaner is a must. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the Reliable company could add that to their list of assets for the Reliable Steam iron!!!

  12. I ruined my cheap steam iron, so I would use it to steam my projects.
For sewing I use a dry iron. Do you use tap water in your iron? Mine gets build up on it.

  13. This iron looks awesome! I need to get a new one anyway, mine is so old and this one looks so shiny and new! It would be perfect for getting the perfect seams!

    ReplyDelete
  14. This iron would be great to own, need more than one and does the guy go with it???? You are lucky that he does his own ironing so he must have the best. My husband has to have his pants pressed so maybe this would give the sharp crease that he wants...if only I could get him to use it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I have been on the search for the perfect iron, this might just be the one. So far this year I have bought three irons and they are just not what I was looking for.

    ReplyDelete
  16. OK, so totally ROFL, because I remember when McDreamy was the skinny nerd who had to bribe the hot girl to pretend to be his girlfriend. However, he's pretty steamy as Dr. McDreamy.

I'm totally drooling over this iron. I hate how much work some irons make it. A good pressing at every step of the quilting process gives better results. A quilter is only as good as her tools. And as nice as my iron is, the V100 looks like the Cadillac of irons. Nice :D. I'd love to take that baby out for a test steam.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Kelly, you make me laugh out loud! I LOVE your videos and posts. We should hang out! Two sewing redheads would be a dangerous thing! HEEHEE!

But how would this steam iron make my sewing better? Wellllll.....
Lots of steam makes me happy. When I am happy, my hubby is happy! Then life is REALLLLY STEAMY! And when we are both happy, then my very own "Steamy McDreamy" offers to take my little one to the park when she is hyper and wacky, so that gives me more time to concentrate on sewing! And then, I sew better because I am not all crazy.

And, of course, nice crisp pressed seams make things lay better, and give off a more professional look. And all of this is GOOD!
Happy Monday Kelly. I hope you have an awesome STEAMY day!

  18. When I read the description and attributes of the Reliable Corporation Digital Steam Velocity V100, I'm sure I must be in heaven. I have purchased four irons in the past 12 months. They either leaked or did not steam/heat or BOTH. My husband thinks I throw them on the floor as he doesn't believe anyone could wear out four irons in a year. Please get me back in his good graces!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. That's the worst part is finding an iron that doesn't shut off! My mother-in-law finally gave me an old one of her's that I use but it's starting to die (she figured it's about 35 years old!). It's time to find a new one. I like the men in my life to have fresh pressed button down shirts for church and I hate it when they leave the wrinkles in which my current iron does. I definitely would use this to get the nice crisp shirts for my boys like I used to. I'll see if I can find some pictures to prove my point, lol!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Boy....could I use that! I was just thinking yesterday that I needed to think about replacing my dribbling, pathetic excuse for an iron. It seems like they only last a year around here. Why is that???

    ReplyDelete
  21. I so want an iron that doesn't spit! I would also like one with as much steam as that locomotive up there! I can never get out the fold creases in fabric. I have resorted to squirting my fabric with a water bottle! And on top of everything else, I ironed something that melted to my iron yesterday!!! Aaargh!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I have been on the hunt for years for a reliable iron that produces lots of steam but no water disasters. I have had a project and some hand-dyed fabric ruined by irons that have become, as Ricky Tims says, "incontinent." But the steam is important to me as I begin to use all sorts of fabric in my quilting, some rather heavy that need steam to tame them. And a good amount of steam helps to settle the curved piecing in the quilts I create. This iron sounds like a dream come true.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh wow.....count me in on that steam...I won't tell you which kind I want!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. As a quilter, I know there's a big difference between ironing and pressing. I also realize you have to be careful when pressing a quilt block to avoid stretching the fabrics. So why do my blocks come out all wonky?!?! Couldn't be ME!! My 1/4" seam allowances are surely perfect, my measurements are the vision of perfection, and my rotary cutting is perfectly perfect! (hah!) So the only factor left, the one I must blame, is my lousy iron! Please, IHAN, award ME this fantastic Reliable iron, and my quilting perfection will SOAR!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wow, this would really be great to win! I am on my third iron that doesn't work. I'd love to have one with reliable steam, that can actually get the wrinkles out of my embroideries! The fact that you can bypass the shut off also makes this a dream! The iron I have now is constantly shutting off on me...even while I'm using it! Keeping my fingers...and toes crossed on this one!

    ReplyDelete
  26. It would make pressing so much easier. I am currently without steam. (Leaky iron - the second of two)! What a pain.

    ReplyDelete
  27. If I were to win such an iron, I would certainly use it go iron and starch quilting fabric, and it might even inspire me to iron clothes now and then!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh yeah, the V100 is the iron for me! No more nasty little rust spots on my beautiful white vintage tablecloths and napkins! It's enough to make me scream! Then I can use the old one as a craft iron in case I get glue on the plate from iron on interfacting. Please pick me!

  29. I would love to win this iron. For me it would help when I am ironing points as I have the hardest time getting them flat for some reason. I believe this steam iron would be the one to help me get those seams just right the first time without having to iron over and over again. I also like the idea that you have to manually cut it off. I just hate when you turn to iron a seam and the iron has cut off while you have been sewing.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh to have a good iron. I am one of those strange people who loves to iron!! I love seeing the wrinkles fade away. I would not sew without an iron. I keep my ironing board right next to me on the same level as my sewing machine, so all I have to do is turn and iron. This may be the lazy way, but it sure prevents getting up and down so many times. I will not sew without ironing as I go.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think it would really be great to have that kind of steam to press out the wrinkles my fabric gets (Need to use it more rather than store it for so long!). Good pressing leads to better seams and a quilt that lays flat and is easier to quilt. The iron from Walmart just doesn't do the job!

    ReplyDelete
  32. An iron that steams forever and doesn't leak? I was starting to think such a creature didn't exist! I need LOTS of steam for the things I make, and I'm tired of the "auto-off" feature on mine. Seems everytime I need it, it's gone to sleep. I'd LOVE the opportunity to win this iron. Please count me in!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I am in desperate need of a good iron and this one looks awesome. My BD was March 2nd and I asked for a new iron--- my kids said thats not a BD gift and I never did get it. My iron leaks when I put water in and it has a constant light on that blinks to tell u the iron is off, Besides the added costit really doesn't iron very well. On my knees begging LOL

    ReplyDelete
  34. Drip, drip DRIP!!000 YEP thats why I need a new iron that doesn't drip but steams!! Thats almost a new concept for ironing...One that really works like it should! Oh! If I would win it I could even iron my jeans...not that I have ever done that in ..lol but I will!! Plus steam up my Punchneedle projects to look fresh!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I KNOW the V100 will improve my quilting because my current iron is soooo old, it spits, sputters, & does a miserable job. It would be soooo nice to have a wonderful iron like the V100. Would be great if you were giving away McDreamy too! Thanks. annmarie (tegens@charter.net)

  36. Could this iron truly be better than any of the "CRA*" that I've been buying? Seriously tired of running out for new irons only to find they do not last and I do LOVE my steam. I'd love a review of this iron...maybe I can with a win? Hee!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I could really use it because my Mr McDreamy hogs up the iron all the time. For some reason he thinks it's his!
I won't complain...he does know how to use it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. What would this iron do for my quilting? Gee it would speed things up a bit. I wouldn't be waiting for the little travel iron to heat up and MAYBE get the wrinkles out....cause you said that is GUARANTEED on this one. With an 8 minute time before it shuts off, I can sew the next seam (or three) and not have to wait for reheating (or not have to worry about burning down the house since the travel iron doesn't shut off by itself.)

And did you say STEAM? (as in "we got *shh shh* sttteamm heat" that song in Pajama Game - oh you are probably too young to remember that one.)
So I wouldn't have to squirt my blocks with a spray bottle? How cool errr.. HOT is that?

    Pick me! plllleeeeeaaasssse?

  39. Kelly I definetly need an iron. Thank you for the chance.

  40. Kelly, my iron is actually in a separate roon tham my sewing room so I have to go elsewhere to iron. Having this iron will enable me to actually have an iron in my sewing room.

  41. Kelly! I have a cheap, leaky iron - I'm crossing my fingers that the rng picks my ## :) This one looks fantastic! Thanks for the chance

  42. Kelly,
I'm getting all hot and steamy just thinking about the Reliable V100 iron. My seams would instantly lie flat and wait with great anticipation for a blast of steam from "Steamy." Please pick me!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I would have a much more enjoyable and relaxing time making quilts if I didn't have to bang my iron on the ironing board to get it to steam, and if I didn't have to worry that the iron would drip and sputter at my precious fabric, and if the seams pressed open on the first try and not the third. Imagine how much fun that would be?? I would love to win this iron!! Thanks for the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh my McDreamy goodness...you mean there really is such an iron...one that steams with no leaks along with other WAMDAMUS features that it really 'irons' up too!!! Will wonders never cease!I need it.. no really I NEED it!Please send this Reliable Iron Prince to me so together we can steam up this here sewing room!!

  45. Ok. I must confess my favour brand name iron just doesn't seem to be doing that great of a job. I woul love to win this iron. I'd probably never stop ironing! Please count me in this giveaway.

Ok. for the steam McDreamy details... we all know humidity is good for minimizing wrinkles (or at least that is my theory). This tip may require you to borrow irons from family, friends & neighbors, or buy a lot of irons. Simply put your iron on hot steam setting and place on a nightstand, or tv table at one corner of your bed. Repeat with the next iron for another corner of your bed and so on, until you have all areas surrounding your bed sending out moist steam over your bed. Then get into something S____Y and let your DH know it is time. I can't share more, as this is a G rated blog. But, you can imagine what this steam situation does for the skin.

Uh oh. I'm an over the hill person, so I think this tip may have come from a tv show....maybe one of those CSI shows.. Guess you best not give it a try. Maybe that is why my irons don't get hot anymore!

PS - Sorry, I don't have Kelly's great talent for writing fun stories! But I'd really like to win a hot & steamy iron!

  46. This iron would definitely help me with my piecing. I am not the best when it comes to pressing my blocks.... if I over press it distorts them if I don't press the seam just right it won't be the right size....
I need a good iron to help me be better at pressing :)
    This iron looks great!

  47. The I use for qmy piecing is the same iron we use for everything else. It cost $15 whole dollars at Walmart and has been suprisngly good for the price but it would be awesome to have an iron just for my sewing! A girl can dream :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh could I ever use this wonderful iron! I believe an iron is one of the most important tools a quilting gal can have...and this one is the Cadillac of all irons. Not only would it make my quilts beautiful...it would make my Mr. McDreamy (Rob)a happy camper because a wrinkle free quilter is one happy gal. If the quilter
ain't happy, no one is happy:) Thanks for another great opportunity! Jenna Louise

  49. I love to sew, I dabble in quilting and I simply love fabric. I collect vintage linens, I recycle our usable cloth and buttons and creating with fabric is my most favorite hobby.
When I saw your giveaway for this iron and read about the features, my mouth hung open in awe. I detest these leaky irons that trail little brown spots on my beautiful linens and new sewing projects. And I am discouraged by the creases that are in brand new fabrics from being folded on the bolts. So if this iron can help me with those two problems, I would be tickled!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I have owned supposedly very good irons (2 Rowentas) and now own a fairly good one, but I use the word "fairly" loosely. Both my Rowentas literally, lost their steam. One would constantly turn itself off, the other leaked. Both got trashed. My current iron spews water when I hit the steam button and has caused many a fine silk blouse to wind up with water stains. Enough already. I used to be a compulsive ironer, but I have lost that loving feeling and want to get it back again with a new, shiny, better working iron. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. My iron is about 7 years old. My teenage daughters and I iron every morning!! All 3 of us cant put a piece of clothing on our body without ironing it. However... mine is shot! As we iron it leakes water and constantly leaves water marks. However, irons arent cheap and we cant afford another one. As I said, I have TWO teenage daughters and one is about to go off to college and we can surely use this iron! Not even gonna mention the sewing, crafting and quilting we do!!! :)

  52. Wow! This iron sounds like a dream. I go thru irons like drinking water. Most of the time my poor starts to leak all over my project so I have to buy a new one. I'd love to win this wonderful iron and never have to worry about steam or leaks again!

  53. Goodness, my iron is very, very sad. I know I could get better seems if I had a better iron!

  55. I would love to win this iron. The one I am using now is quite old and doesn't steam very well.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think it'll give me crisp seams, which hopefully will help with my "aggressive" pressing problem. I have issues with accuracy and I think it's mostly at the pressing stage, especially with larger pieces where fighting the iron and the quilt top/pieces doesn't help!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I have a lot of stash fabric (lots of cottons and linens) that have been folded up in a storage bin for upwards of ten years. I pulled a piece out to use the other day and it was nearly impossible to get all those old fold-creases out. I had to strategically place my pattern pieces in the hopes of avoiding the worst ones! I like to dream that this iron could tackle my aging stash pieces :)
Thanks for the chance at winning!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Wow, can an iron really do all that? I'd love to have the chance to find out. I have had a couple very nice and pricey irons that work well, but they do end up leaking and the current one has auto shut off that I really didn't want. Besides all that,it would probably make my piecing look (all most) perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I heard about this iron on Pat Sloan's radio show also. I don't trust my current iron with steam because of leaking, so I have to use it dry and have a spray bottle handy to spray/iron/spray/iron. Just think how much faster I will be if I have a RELAIABLE iron that has steam. I'd love to win.

  60. I make allot of quilts and need an iron that DOESN'T leak! This iron would be awesome for when I need to iron 2 and 3 yards of fabric stiff. Also, an iron that can quickly flatten a long seam would be great too! Sure wish I could win this iron as I have been searching for a good iron.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Having an awesome iron would certainly help out with the accuracy of my squares. sometimes i rush and don't quite get them ironed out completely. I too hate when the water dribbles out at atimes. this iron looks/sounds wonderful. the best part of your blog entry is that your husband actually knows how to use it!!!:)

    ReplyDelete
  62. since ironing (pressing?) is the difference between things looking 'home-made' and 'hand-made', a good steamy iron could change my entire reputation :-)

    ReplyDelete
  63. I think this iron would make my piecing perfect, you know, straight seams and pointy points. :-) Thank you for this wonderful prize. Take care and God bless, Cory

    ReplyDelete
  64. I bought my iron my junior year of college (so you can imagine the budget there) which was not too long ago. I think 6 years ago. I wish I could show you a picture of it! I can't steam, water leaks everywhere, and, oh, yeah, the metal part is starting to fall off! It works well enough to get the job done if I have a lot of paitence, which sometimes I know I have 20 minutes where my girls naps overlap so I need somethign to work zip, blip, and back to sewing. A new iron, even a cheep one isn't in the budget at the moment. I also need a new ironing board. I have one that hangs over the back of my door and thanks to the iron it's warped from the heat so if I am pressing/ironing anything I have to make sure not to use the middle part or it will burn/imprint lightly the weave of the metal under TWO iron pads!! if I were to get a wonderful iron I would just have to convince the husband a new ironing board is a necessity!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. The problem with my iron is that it leaks a lot so I sure could use a new and better one. Thanks for the chance to win

  69. You know when you prewash fabric and it wraps itself up and makes those seemingly permanent wrinkles? I think this iron could slay that dragon without me having to rewet everything, what a treat that would be.

  70. What a wonderful giveaway!! I would love to win this iron!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I have a "nice" iron that my mom got for my birthday. It was rather expensive. I'm grateful for it but I'm bummed that it leaks! Especially if I don't dump out the water when I'm done (even if I'm going to use it again that day) When I turn it back on as soon as it is heating back up most of the water spills out!!! big puddles that even drip off the ironing board and onto my hardwood floors. I don't like to use the steam feature because of this inconvenience. I just don't want it to accidentally ruin my floors if I forget to dump out the water!

    ReplyDelete
  72. I love love a good iron. Don't open my bathroom closet or one will fall out on you. I have tried several different brands. I like my Rowenta the best but I would love to try this one. It would make my life so much better!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. My iron works good enough but like you mentioned..sometimes it just doesn't seem to get the wrinkles out. This iron looks WONDERFUL.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'd be happy to give you the details, so long as I don't have to do it in spanish like the embedded Steamy McDreamy video (oh, how I loved that finale!)
I believe that the V100 will help me to make things lay flat. I am currently loving wonky quilting so I end up with some bizzaro seams and seam intersections. If I could get them to just lay down freakin' flat, I could quilt the crap out of 'em!
Does anyone need that in layman's terms??

    ReplyDelete
  75. I have to first state that I detest ironing and avoid it when ever possible... I will wear wrinkled clothes in preference to ironing.... so any iron that would work easy and well and would make me want to iron anything even my craft fabrics would be welcomed in this household, by not only me.. but the rest of the family as well... I would even buy an ironing board..

  76. If this iron steams as well as it sounds like it steams - I absolutely need it for steaming my hooked wool rugs! I've tried supposedly great irons and the steam never keeps coming - not a good thing when you're trying to steam a wool rug LOL My steaming method now is to lay a damp cloth over the rug and then press for a count of 12 - just before I burn the heck out of the cloth LOLOLOL A really great iron would sure cut down the time it takes.

  77. The McSteamy steaming iron will provide a veritible steam bath as I iron away in my little sewing room. The steam bath will relax me, soothe the tension from my shoulders, help me think clearly and focus so that I can have perfect straight quarter inch seams and perfect squared up blocks - this is all after the fabric has been rendered totally wrinkle free! Great give away - Oh McSteamy isn't included??(:

The air in my room is BLUE from all my swearing and cussing! My 7 month old iron died last week and this time I just bought a cheap $20 one because I'm tired of all these expensive ones that never last! Apparently I am hard on my irons!

    ReplyDelete
  83. I have three irons, but they all leak because I am cheap and never buy the good ones. I would so love a non-leaking iron so that my embroidery pieces are spot free. Twould be a dream come true!

  84. I believe a good iron is as important to sewing and quilting as a good sewing machine. I had a good iron, but my kids knocked it on the floor...sob..sob..sob. I would love this iron!!

  85. I have been using a Sunbeam iron purchased at Target about 8 years ago and it's just not cutting it for me. One of the cats recently knocked it off the ironing board (wasn't plugged in lukcily!) and now I can't turn the steam function off when I don't want steam. So I am literally running to the sink to empty and refill as I change projects or as my husband irons his dress shirt for work each day. It recently started spitting and snarling at me pretty bad and leaks quite a bit.

  86. This sounds like a wonderful iron! Please enter me in your giveaway!

  87. OH I MUST have an iron with auto shut off but when I quilt it makes me insane to be continually turning the silly thing BACK on, an override is the perfect solution :) :)

  88. not sure if i can enter this from the uk but this is a great prize!! my old sewing teacher always told us we should "sew with our irons"!!

  90. Dear IHAN, I am currently drooling after reading about mcsteamy! (which by the way is the only way my current iron will give any steam! lol)
How could this amazing-too-good-to-be-true iron improve my life?
    Let me count the ways!
    1. As a quilter, the need for pressing flat seams is crucial, and improves your quilting 100 fold. My current seams look like the wind MIGHT have blown them in one direction - but they're not entirely convinced! Trying to press my seams open is next to impossible without steam or lots and lots of starch! So I have given up even trying! ugh. Can you imagine how much my quilting would improve with this iron?!?!?
    2. I am a hooker. *Ahem* I hook wool rugs. Large ones that go on the floor. The finishing process requires a good hearty steam pressing, to acheive perfection. I currently lay wet towels on top of said rug, and armed with two pathetic irons - one in each hand - start pressing. (the reason for two - is that neither of them can stay hot long enough to produce ANY steam for longer than 5 seconds! So.. I alternate, and then wait for them to heat back up!) Takes me HOURS to do this!! ;(
    3. As a mom of 4, and a wife to one, the laundry produced in this house is unbelievable. Enter in a husband who LOVES hawaiin shirts that are crisply pressed! I think he owns upwards of 30+ shirts - that I spend several days a month unselfishly ironing for him! (mind you I hate ironing clothes! and this is done ONLY out of true love! LOL) This iron would make easy work of all those wrinkly shirts!!!
    4. Folded fabric stash. 'nuff said? My iron and i SHOULD be BFF's by now - sadly we are NOT!
    5. Pressing the wrinkles out of quilt tops before getting ready to sandwhich and quilt. Steam is VERY MUCH needed for this process!! Sadly I have not seen true steam since my grandmother's iron 20 years ago!
    6. Steam-a-seam applique. As the name implies one needs STEAM! LOL
    Shall I go on? :D
Yes, I am desperate.. as I KNOW this iron could change my life as i know it! LOLOL

    ReplyDelete
  91. I want an iron that works for more than a year, the last iron I had died just after the warranty was up. I would also love to have an iron that gets those tough wrinkles out of my fabric stash, when I buy new fabric I re-press it so the selvages are lined up evenly and I fold it up neatly and put it in my stash drawers. Then when I go to use it, I have to press and steam to get out that pesky fold line, that sometimes, just doesn't want to leave... so I really need a good iron that will make my life easier, if that is really even possible. LOL
Thanks for giving us a chance to win these great products Kelly, and I love all of the great information and so many things I've never even heard of too!

  92. Wow, what a generous giveaway! Having a good iron was something that I didn't really realize was necessary until I used one! Wow, it makes all the difference! I make a lot of garments and a good iron is the one trick to getting a super professional looking garment! Hope I win!

  93. This iron would be wonderful! My current iron takes forever to warm up and the water holder/steam never works correctly. It either just sprays water every which way or doesn't come out at all! I've given up on trying to use steam because of it!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Wow I wopuld love to win a iron that wouldn't leak all over my beautiful fabrics. When trying to press myQuilts. Karol

  95. I'm hoping that with all that steam I might be able to make a good firm permanent crease for hemming or making binding as at the moment my iron doesn't do a great job and as I sew the crease dissipates--I'm also hoping that when I make that permanent crease and I do it wrong that the steam will be able to get that wrinkle out! :)
Am I aiming too high? :)

  96. Always searching for a better iron and this sounds like it fill the bill!

  97. An iron that takes out wrinkles? Really? I cannot tell you how many irons I have gone through and NONE of them work properly. I still have wrinkles, I seem to burn everything (including my meals) and when I press open my seams, they just do not lay flat like they should.

If I had the Digital Steam Velocity V100 iron by Reliable Corporation, I would be able to produce Thank you for a great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Well, my iron is quite old. And cracked. It also spits water (but oddly, only when my husband is using it. Hmmm...). It ONLY gets out wrinkles when it has water in the reservoir, and the reservior only holds a thimble full of water. SO, my wish for this iron, should I win it, is as follows: that it would have a good-sized reservoir (by that I mean it would have enough moisture to iron more than one item), that it would not spit water when my husband uses it, and that it is without any cracks where water can leak out. That's it. Thank you for the contest!!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Wow. My irons just don't work anymore with the steam. I have only used the distilled water and carefully cleaned them, but they are just done. What an amazing iron.
I use my iron so much, I forget to turn it off sometimes and when I get up in the night, I see its faithful orange light blinking at me. heh heh
Could that be why it doesn't want to work anymore?
I have one that shuts off automatically, but that is no fun either. I go to use it in the middle of a project, only to have to warm it up again. I love the bypass option!
I sew for a living. I alter clothing, make quilts, hem, patch, replace zippers and create and design wedding dresses. In my spare time, I sew quilts for my grandchildren. I will email you a picture of a quilt I just finished that required LOTS of applique. I used a fusible bonding product called steam a seam 2 Lite.

Oh how I could have used the Reliable Corporation
Digital Steam Velocity V100. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to enter this contest.

  100. I have possibly the worlds worst iron to use for quilting. It leaks. It doesn't stand up much of the time (I think it's somehow top heavy or something - it tips over when I try to stand it on table and it's full of water). It seems like the temperature and amount of steam should be adjustable, but I think that feature is broken. Pretty much I can turn it on hot and steamy and not much else.

I'm a new quilter and a good iron is an essential tool of the trade! I would looooove a new, fabulous iron (almost as much as I would looooove Dr. McDreamy!)

    ReplyDelete
  101. I don't iron my quilttops at all at the moment because all I own is the cheap iron that I got when I moved out from home. It is not very good and has stained many things, I cannot afford to buy a proper one now but I would certainly start ironing if I had a real good one! It would ertainly improve my quilting.

    ReplyDelete
  102. My mom bought me a Rowenta about 4 years ago, and it was amazing at the time. However, I have started sewing and quilting about twice as much since then, and it's just not what I need anymore. I love irons that get extra steamy without too much effort. Also, I love to have an iron that isn't going to leak all over my projects!!
I hope I win this so very much :)

    ReplyDelete
  103. This iron sounds wonderful! My second Rowenta just sprung a leak and I have been searching around for a new brand that actually works. Hope I'm the lucky one this time!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Am I too late??? I'm in desperate need of some steam, especially since my iron is getting fritzy in it's old age. Hope I'm not too late :)

    ReplyDelete
  105. Wow what a generous giveaway. I am really new to quilting and sewing but I keep reading and hearing that ironing is the key to professional and nice looking products. Right now I have one iron from Walmart and it rarely gets the wrinkles out of my fabric the first time around without spraying the fabric with a water bottle also(kinda defeats the purpose of having a steam option) I would also love the auto shut off bypass. I hate that I get busy pinning or sewing and then go to iron and realize I have to wait for the iron to heat back up. Thanks for the chance to win.

    ReplyDelete
  106. My poor iron is limping along! I have needed to replace it for a long time, but just wasn't sure which one to consider as my next purchase. I just have not been happy with my Rowenta. Now the on-off steam button does not work. I'm excited just to know what to look for if I don't win this excellent iron!

  107. Quilt Dad said thos was a cool iron and he was sp understated.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I need this iron! I can only dream of steam. My elderly one heat wonder iron has served me well, but it can no longer handle the pinwheel blocks. The thought of smooth seams makes me swoon!

I tried to publish my comment, but was unable to. My name is Margaret and my email address is maplespooner@gmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  109. My iron is horrible! So I would love to win this one. I love that you can activate the turn off automatically function or leave it on. I tend to sew and then press and then sew some more, and my iron is continuously turning off and not coming back on until I unplug and replug it.

    ReplyDelete
  110. This prize is amazing. I found out about your birthday giveaway from Quilt Dad and through him have found a great blog. Thanks for all the goodness.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Oh, how I would love an iron that got the wrinkles out AND didn't leak. I will no longer have to stand for hours ironing my fabric. Yes, I do pre-wash, so there are lots of wrinkles. It will save me so much time! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  112. I would love to win this iron! It will improve my quilting projects because:
    1. My current iron is having electrical issues (it won't stay on unless the cord is in a certain position)
    2. It will make a nice crisp edge on my seams. Getting a nice crisp edge will also help my 1/4" seams to be more precise. (I need all the help I can get with that...haha).

    ReplyDelete
  113. I tried this iron at a retreat and I loved it! It is nice and heavy and does the work for you. I would love to win it!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  114. The Reliable V100 will help improve my stitching and quilting projects by the quick steam feature at a higher temperature. I get frustrated when my current iron "leaks" water out instead of steams, turns off too fast, and doesn't get hot enough to get the folds/wrinkles out of scraps. The idea of faster ironing so can get back to quilting would be great. It would be Steamy McDreamy to be able to iron the wrinkles dried into my clothing as well. I would rather do something else besides ironing clothes over and over to get the wrinkles out.

    ReplyDelete
  115. YOU CAN"T MEAN IT...A V100 !!! Oh, how wonderful it would be to win this iron. I spend about as much time cleaning my quilt from the tiny particles that my iron spits out as I do creating my "masterpieces". Having this iron would change from me dreading pressing the seams to actually enjoying the process !!! Thank you Reliable Corporation and IHAN

    Sincerely,

    Kelly

    ReplyDelete
  116. It would be wonderful to win this amazing iron then I can get rid of the beast I call the scorcher. I have to be so careful with the iron I have that just a second too long and it wants to scorch the fabric. Also it doesn't have an automatic shutoff so if I forget to turn it off it is potentially a fire hazard.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I have tried iron after iron searching for "the" iron that steams when I want steam and doesn't spit particles or leave water spots on my fabric. This iron sounds like a dream to use. This is a prize I would dearly love to win. What fun.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I love an iron that really steams, and this one sounds like the best. Something that really caught my interest is the amount of water that it holds. My iron puts out quite a bit of steam, but I feel like I'm refilling it constantly. This iron would make my quilting efforts easier, quicker, and more efficient!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Quilt dad told me you were giving this away...
Wow...how fantastic! I just got a new iron that isn't supposed to leak...hmmm...not sure that's the whole truth. I love steam for quilting...although I am trying to watch it from changing the size of my piecing. Besides quilting I mostly use my iron for my scrubs...used to use a stand up steamer which I loved but it no longer steams like when I first bought it...steam runs out after 30 seconds of use or so...not good. If I had the V100 I am sure my current applique project (using steam a seam 2) would be much more "stuck on"! :) I'm also quite interested in an iron which will really take out the creases made from the fabric being on the bolt and folded from the fabric shop (is there a universal way of folding fabric?!)...

    ReplyDelete
  120. Oh my gosh this iron is like a dream come true. I hate the 8 minute auto shut off on mine. There is no bypass for it and everytime its time to iron a seam of course the iron has shut off & I have to wiggle it to get it to heat up again. what a pain. Not to mention there is no way I am putting water in it so it can spit rusty brown spots all over my light colored fabrics. Oh please draw me.

    lsandes@comcast.net

    ReplyDelete
  121. Thank you Kelly! Thank you IHAN! Thank you Reliable! The V100 would do way more than take my wrinkles out (really, I mean my fabric's, not mine). This would save me from having to buy a new iron to replace "the beast" that has recently passed on to iron heaven and get me back to quilting and my ironing board (which my cat has taken over to sleep on)!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Oh man - would that iron be useful in my house. Now I don't iron clothes, no way. I iron fabric! yes freshly washed fabric, piecing projects, quilt tops - you name it. To have an iron that has good steam and not spit or leak water - I would be in heave. I don't even want to tell you how many blocks I"ve ruined by spitting water. Heck I may end up loving ironing with it so much I may break down and iron some clothes! Well.... maybe not!

    ReplyDelete
  123. The only thing I really iron is my quilting projects so I'd love this iron to press those seams!

    ReplyDelete
  124. Sent by QuiltDad . . . anyhow, wow! True confession here, I don't do much ironing as I live in a dorm room and will continue to do so for at least a year, but if I had an iron that shiny I'd for sure acquire an ironing board. Before moving into an apartment or house, even.

  126. Thank you IHAN blog and Reliable.
The V100 would make such an improvement in my quilt pressing and my occasional clothes ironing.
I too have an angry iron that spits black spots ,leaks. and drinks the water tank dry in about five minutes and then scorches or melts my fabric. I would dearly love to win the perfect iron so that pressing would be fun and not fearful. Thank you for the generous giveaway and chance to win. I was sent by Quilt Dad and I am so glad he did. I have put you in my favourites as you have such a great place for ideas and links.

  128. Oh do I ever need this iron - you should see the poor excuse for an iron that I have now! And my husband won't get me a new one because he says no husband worth his salt would ever get his wife an iron! I think he's right, in a way - if I let him buy me an iron, what's next? A pair of rubber gloves? A vacuum cleaner? Lol! Please help me out of this predicament, so I can go back to asking for diamonds (ha!)

  129. This iron that sounds amazing would have to make me the happiest gal! If it does everything you say, my sewing and quilting would be so much better BECAUSE I would be in a better mood! Ironing or pressing, as we quilters like to do, is a very important step and it should be a JOY not a JOB!

  130. OMG, my iron is terrible! I need a new one so bad but they all seem to be the same but from what you say, the V100 is different! I am a total hand sewer/quilter so I would keep it right next to me on the couch to press as I go.

  132. I would like an iron that doesn't leak! I think this iron would help make my piecing more accurate by getting out the wrinkles before cutting, pressing seams and squaring up the top when finished!

    ReplyDelete
  133. What an amazing iron! I got my iron at a wedding shower 11 years ago, and it has never been a great one. I would love the continuous steam feature that the V100 boasts. I have to pump mine and it never it quite hot enough to get my quilting projects that crisp look.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  134. There's nothing like a reliable iron that really works! I press all types of fabric, and some of them are quite stubborn. It would be great for getting wrinkles out of the fabric that has been folded up waiting to be used, and for making nice crisp seams, and beautiful bias tape!

    ReplyDelete
  135. I've been trying for days to comment on this blog. Woo hoo, today it seems to be going through. I think that this iron will help so much with piecing because I'm a stickler for ironing each seam as I sew. Also, since I pre-wash, I need to iron my fabric before I can cut it. Thank you for the chance to win such an awesome iron.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I feel like I am always going and filling up my unreliable Iron with water. I like that the reservoir is so big on the V100, and that it has the Eco-intelligent feature that won't waste so much water. The combination of those two really will cut down on the time I spend with either no steam or going to and from the sink to get water to refill the iron for a big project. (I'm too clumsy to keep water around, because no matter how hard I try, I inevitably will spill it all over!)

    ReplyDelete

  145. I long for an iron with really good steam action that makes a seam lay down where I iron it!!! And if I need to change direction of the seam allowance, it will do that as well! I want a great iron that would be good for retreats and be used by multiple sewers and keep on pressing!

    ReplyDelete
  146. For me it's not about the wrinkles, it's about getting my seams the way I want them. A good iron is a must and this one sounds like the perfect iron! Thanks for the chance to win!

  155. I like to use steam when quilting but have yet to find an iron that doesn't begin to leak within a few months after buying it, so....this one seems like it won't do that and I could then go back to using steam when quilting. It sounds like the "rescue" I need!

  157. The v100 sounds like a powerhouse! I like to use a lot of repurposed fabrics from thrift store finds, and they need serious washing and ironing before using! the v100 wouldn't leak and leave behind creases and wrinkles as my current iron does. what a dream!

  159. honestly I hate to iron (yep I know most everyone does too) but when I started quilting a year ago all the quilters I came across would urge me to iron as I pieced my quilts. About a month or two ago I finally broke down when my quilts kept turning out so awful and dragged out my old iron. I beleive I bought it for $8 ten years ago. It leaks, doesn't really get hot and barely steams (in fact it's more like spitting water then steam) Even with its meager qualities or lack there of...I have to admit my quilting does look better. I am sure if I had a better iron my quilts would turn out even better.

  178. WOW what a wonderful iron. One that looks easy on the hands/wrist. One that has an excellent point for those seems and quilting points. One that will glide over the fabric. If you could only see what I'm using now - I cannot say enough about this wonderful iron!!!!!

  179. My husband would love for me to win this iron - so I would actually iron his shirts with more frequency. Currently I like to iron shirts when I iron new fabric for the first time. This can be an expensive (but fun!) weekly endeavour!!I like this iron because it's not supposed to leak, gets hot (and stays on) and well, it sounds like I really don't have to pet it to be friends with it. Thanks for another great giveaway.

  180. I need a better iron for pressing seams in quilting, and good temp control for things like silk & interfacings.

  181. If this iron is as good as you say it is a must have. I bought a new one but it will occasionally leave brown spots when it steams. Thanks for the giveaway.

  182. Even though I love the iron I have, I'm always afraid that it will give out at a critical moment. Having a new iron, or a spare, would be a great luxury.

  183. The V100 will definitely improve my stitching and quilting projects because I will then have a wonderfully reliable iron! My husband confiscated the iron I had been using.

  184. As most of us sewers know...the iron can be our best friend...or our worst enemy!! An iron that doesn't leave any brown spots, heats up fast and doesn't leak, all while continually providing steam....um definitely my best friend. LOL The iron I have right now does an ok job but I'm finding that more often than not...I need steam. The steam feature on my iron pretty much sputters out water leaving my fabric wet so I have to try and iron over it several times to dry. So frustrating. Thank you for the chance to win!

  185. It would be sooooooo nice to ACTUALLY be able to iron the wrinkles out of a new piece of fabric that I just took out of the dryer from pre-washing before my cutting!!! My iron can never get all of the wrinkles out (even WITH) steam, and that makes for some VERY inacurate rotary cutting!! Frustrating!!!!! So, I try not to prewash any fabric unless I think that there is a chance that the colors will run! PLEASE enter me in this drawing!! Thank you!!

  186. I would love this one, my iron was at Goodwill for 1.00, and it works, well sorta. I can iron, it will not steam, sometimes it does and sometimes not. I could get such nicer crisper points, and just might, well maybe get better at making my points meet.

  193. Thanks Reliable for this great giveaway opportunity. I would love an iron that doesn't spit and leak! I'd love to try the V100!

  194. Sounds like a great iron - I would think it would be wonderful for setting the seams on a quilt project and pressing the seams open or too one side after setting them. Love a good steam setting for those jobs.

  195. In the hunt for a great iron, it sounds like the V100 could be "the one". I need a McDreamy/Steamy to call my own!

  196. I can never have enough steam! Thank you.

  197. The time I could save not having to tip my iron every 5 minutes or so would allow me to finsh my quilts. (Okay, maybe there are a few other things I need to do to finsh a quilt, but this sure would help!) Thanks for all the AWESOME giveaways!

  198. Oh, I'd love to own this iron. To think it would't spit out ugly black stuff and iron so beautifully

  199. Wow, how can I think about how the iron steam would help my sewing projects when I've just watched that entire video you posted. The language wasn't English, but I sure got the steamy message and now feel transported to places unknown. Whew, Anyway back to business here. I would love to have a dependable iron that would last and actually give steam and not water droplets that annoy the heck out of me!! Being calm greatly helps my work be nice.

  200. I would love to win this iron for my hubby, Mr. MoonCat. He is the official ironer of the togs around here.

I would actually use this myself on my delicate wool fabrics. We have a lot of costumes for Faire that would benefit from this beauty!

    Thanks so much.
